Account Settings
Author:
King Fredjee
Summary:
When a user logs in to the Account settings page then the user will be asked again to log in to every other page after he logged in. I miss the old view where the bars like opend with your user settings in. Now the user need to log in after each click and they are redirected to other pages thats doesn't even look the same as the overview of your account settings. It's not so user experience friendly in my eyes. It would be nice to see some updates there.
Pros:

The user needs to log in 1 time
It looks nicer to stay on 1 page, in stead of redirecting to other pages to view or update your account settings.
Cons:

Maybe some security issue that probably can be fixed.

The character length limit of posts on the forums should be majorly increased. 2000 characters is annoying and outdated. It's equal to the character limit of Discord, an instant messaging app. A forum should allow more characters than that.

Pros:
• Thread owners no longer need to awkwardly reserve posts in their threads, and the first pages of threads can be used for discussion, not just filled with reserve posts
• Players can discuss more extensively... in depth discussion is more possible
• Information is more compact and efficient, since making multiple posts takes up more room

There are no significant downsides to consider. It should be a very quick change on Jagex's side.

I really support the personal/private message idea. It's not a big deal how it's implemented, as long as we can send other players offline messages. Add whatever settings you want, but I'd love to carry on a conversation once a week/month with people I don't align schedules with or tell my old friends that I'm back without waiting for them to log on. I don't want to be that creepy person and google people's names and find their facebook and say "hey it's me from runescape! Lol remember me?" or have to find another platform. Lesson learned from skype.

Add an interface to divide FH reports into different categories.

Add special procedure for handling targeted abuses

In general, all an UI To help users to file a FH report in a more orderly way like Reddit.

I found Reddit very efficient in getting rid of obvious trolls. For instance,
(1) Somebody called me a shill with a lot of swearing.
(2) Another one called me a undercover Jmod.
(3) Another one called me a troll from RSOF with even more profanity.

In all these 3 different occasions. The Reddit mods removed their posts within 10 minutes.

I think the UI helps. Jagex's Website team probably has to plan ahead anyway, because eventually the industry will likely endorse a regulatory framework against Online Harms.

Hi

I have just made a post regarding website security before I saw this thread.

My concern is that authenticator should be a necessary step when logging into the website for things such as account information and the stores and not just for the game itself.

Regards

SB

I think the forum moderator team do a fantastic job already as a lot of requests are dealt with nearly instantly, but I do understand that this can still be slower than other forum platforms such as Reddit. If you don't mind I am going to wait to see if a Jagex Moderator or Forum Moderator could respond to this as I think they are better equipped in knowing the possibilities and design of moderation on the forums :)

Hi there SB!

I agree that the better the account security the safer it is for others 100% and I will write this up as a suggestion. Currently, you are still required to log in again to access account settings even if you are logged into the forum so there is one layer of security. It is possible to ensure your email security by having things such as authenticator or two step verification on your email itself, so this is a way you can maximise security for accessing parts like this, but I do understand how authenticator might help secure further.

My only worry is, not everyone even has authenticator on their RuneScape account or have a bank pin set (which can also be authenticator) so I wonder if this will be utilised by the masses or seen more as a nuisance of constantly needing authenticator for too many things. Perhaps a pin or something smaller could be activated if a player wanted that to be so? I think the most important thing for players to realise in an emphasis on the security of their actual email address.

PIN Code for the Site - PIN Codes

Author:
Lucine Sweet
Summary:
An optional ability to add a PIN to your account to protect your website logins. JAG doesn't currently protect these. This would cover account settings, billing pages and the forums.

~
Pros
~

Calm Enigma: "The more optional security, the better ^^"

~
Cons
~

Calm Enigma: "This is basically like having a second pass, so imo it should definitely be optional if done, otherwise it would be seen as a hassle for many I think."

Calm Enigma: "Too many passes can also get confusing ^^"

Calm Enigma: "Also, assuming the pass is entered in a similar manner to the PIN, it is likely that if your pass is hacked, your PIN will be hacked as well... [just speculation]"

^ This is quite similar as a previous suggestion so going to add you as a supporter if that is ok?
