I don't think that was their intent, considering jmods use reddit over these forums to announce things. (minus this ofc, because it is really only relevant here)

Maybe they just wanted to give forumers something. (thanks) And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known

As mentioned in this thread, there is no censor on the forums currently, anywhere. The click to reveal is to reduce the stress; its the same system used by reddit - instead of loading every image on a page it only loads the ones you want thus reducing taxation on the system. What system? The RSOF doesn't have to load images, your internet connection does. If I'm not on mobile or under a data cap, I should be given the choice to load images automatically.

I didn't agree with Facebook's auto-loading system, but at least there's a toggle. Don't see why they couldn't give us one on here too.

Because adding an option means double the workload. You need to store/retrieve user preferences, create a UI to toggle, and then modify the thread display code again based on preference.


Because it doesn't exist now doesn't mean it won't be added at a later time, but having it on release would've pushed the release date back much further again. :p

You have to understand that RSOF mods aren't HALF as bad as reddit mods. You will never see posts on the RSOF get hidden for sociopolitical reasons. However on reddit entire communities are shunned for posting a philosophy different than the accepted social norm.

If you want examples of how reddit mods are worse than rsof mods I'd be happy to present you a lot of them (news, pol, etc). There are issues that will be addressed for the rsof but at least Jagex and the RSOF aren't blatantly skewed left-wing.

I don't know about the code behind web but how do most forums do it? Retrieving one toggle, creating a UI for the toggle, modifying the code based on preference, how long do you think that takes? How much stress do you think handling this toggle will put on the servers?

*sigh*.

Crappy forum platforms such as SMF already do it and they're blazing fast! I'm sure using extensions that add improvements to the forums already add this sort of "stress", and the "stress" is invisible for me.

That be the system of the user, not the forum user. So, my system, your system, that fox guys (Whos-DR) system, so on and so forth. Not everyone has top line systems. Less load is good load. ALso, my phone thanks Jagex for NOT eating up all my data in 3seconds.

Tbh, this update comes as a shock to me, because i really thought the jmods were done with the forums. (Thank you for proving me wrong) And I swear I'm not going to let her know all the pain I have known
