We are going to have actual important messages like big content reveal, company news etc shown on the new platform but unnecessary messages like what your example shows aren't what we need and we are not likely to see them as in all the other games.
I've explained why these types of messages are helpful already. You may not deem them to be useful to you, but I feel that they would be useful to me, and I'm certain there will be many other players who would agree to either side of the argument.

The only difference is that if a message is posted, it is helpful for those who agree and does not affect those that disagree. If a message is not posted, it's going to help nobody at all.

It can even be a set message for all we care. Hit a button to say "post this message when an update goes live". It's not going to take away from any progress to any other update, so why not just do it?

Besides, if these messages are not what we need, then why do Jagex post them to social media accounts? If we don't need them, then surely they're wasting their time, right?

Thank you for verifying my point: Not many players, and even the OSRS subreddit doesn't think individual JMod messages are "important" information that everybody in the sub needs to know, let alone the RSOF. :D
You need to stop assuming RS players want the same as OS players, or vice versa. There's evidence that RS players want this. Saying OS doesn't want it doesn't mean RS should never have it.

If there are RS players who are only interested in big news and not little news, this can easily be solved by adding filters and/or notifications to each message. This will allow players to see the news they want to see, and ignore the news they're not interested in.

Again, no matter how many times you said such meaningless messages are important to you and perhaps a handful of players, FACTS show that the community, especially the OSRS subreddit community doesn't think such Jmod messages are important at all. Please read Loki's post I quoted.

Note that one person (e.g. you) say the same "it is very important" 9000 times doesn't make it important to the other 9000 users on reddit et al.

If these bits of news are not important, then why does Loki create his thread every week? Why do the Jmods post these bits of news in the first place? There's clearly a market for them, and that market is on RS, not OS.

He is a voluntary helper. Voluntary helpers typically try to help out in ways the company doesn't think they need to do. You can do that too or I actually ocassionally deliver such messages too but it doesn't mean Jagex think it is important for us to help out voluntarily. :)

Again x 9000!!! Not every Jmod post such unnecessary "system messages" every time. In your specific situation, a specific Jmod may just be visiting Reddit or Twitter and gave us a "BTW message". That's why we don't see this kind of BTW messages consistently before every system update in every social media.

Hey.

I'm unsure if it helps your suggestion or not, but something similar was recently implemented by Jagex. If you look at the News section of the website, you will see that every News article now has Social Media links embedded in them. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Reddit, Discord and Twitch have all been aggregated to the articles that are shared there with the community.

I wholeheartedly believe it's worth a shot and I commend the team responsible for such a change ^_^ .

Yes, but I bet you still won't see unnecessarily messages like the "System Update" OP mentioned in this thread. I am pretty sure Jagex want IMPORTANT MESSAGES like the Rex Queen reveals to be shared on all channels, but Jmods' individual comments/messages not specifically ordered by Jagex are very hard to be shared (if there is even a need to be shared) among all channels.

Thanks Ana.

I've taken a look at the link you provided and I can see that there are links to the various social media channels, namely the main Runescape channels on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit. This is of course useful for those who don't know that these exist, but it doesn't show any of the updates that have been posted there, i.e. it still takes the player to trawl through the links to find out if there are any relevant updates.

If I recall correctly, there used to be a live feed of the Twitter channel on the main Runescape website. I'm thinking more along the lines of this rather than having links to the main channels.

The other problem to what we have now is that other social media isn't included. There's no links to Twitch, for example, nor is there any links to other Runescape accounts that tend to have news posted to them, such as @Jagex. Of course, if there was a procedure in place where any important news was posted to official channels, we wouldn't need to see a link or live feed of these alternative accounts, and this is the main point of this thread. Either put a solid procedure in place, or write some code to amalgamate the news.

Dilbert, it's clear that not all news is important to all players. Some will see future updates as important, others will see technical issues as more important. This is why I've also suggested a filter system so that only important news to that player is seen.

Hey again. Twitch is indeed included there:

Hmm, it seems you need to go into the news posts to see that. If you go to the news feed, you only see this:

Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit respectively.
