I also don't see why the forums button was removed... it was quite quick to get to the forums and overall useful having it as a direct link instead of the drop down, as it was some time ago.

Don't see why the "Try Free" button is here if one logs into the site already. I think it can be implied one already plays the game, but that's just me. :P Just don't see the usefulness of a Download button and Try Free button, next to one another.

In terms of semantic logic, I understand why Forums is a part of Community.
However, it sounds like the change is not mobile-friendly and mobile is the future.
Also, like (a) Nub, I have been clicking Shop (sneaky sales approach lol).

I'm sure it's purely coincidental that the change to having a direct Forums heading, which happened because it was vociferously championed by the community manager, was reversed while that position is vacant .

I have my own theory as to the recent change. Personally I think it had much to do with the recent spam attacks from throw away accounts. However if that was the driving force behind it. Removing something that was convenient for the normal forum users for something that is decidedly inconvenient for that is rather poor judgement in my estimate.

I doubt that, the spammer had been on the forums for months prior to this. Removing the forum button wouldn't have hindered him or her.

Honestly I don't really know what to say, other than whoever made this decision has totally no concept of the forums nor its community. Runescape Forumers Discord Server

I agree with South. Changing the Header to prevent one trolling spammer (the only one we've had in a long time) would be using a sledgehammer to crack a walnut.

I think it's more the case that Jagex don't give a .... about the RSOF, it's not even on their collective radar. I doubt that any JMod who has been put on the payroll in the last two years has even the vaguest notion of what it was once, what it is now and what an asset it could be in the future ~ if only they'd drop their tunnel vision over third party social media sites.

The kiddies have discarded the RSOF in favour of newer, shinier, prettier toys.

However, disregarding the RSOF, I still think the change to the Header is abominable for the reasons stated by others. Download AND Try Free .... ffs.

Would like to see an explanation for this change from a J Mod. Would probably need to use the social media sites to get some attention and post any responses here ourselves - such is the state of these forums and the ever decreasing attention paid to them by Jagex.

It is a shame for one of the older continuously used forums of its type on the internet is being treated as poorly as it is by the owners. These forums would have held more " world titles " in their day if post count had ever been implemented. The original forums were coded by Jagex in-house and they have refused to either out-source or re-design them to keep up with the "current" trending social media platforms.


What they are for and who they are for , seems to be forgotten in the need for upvotes , likes and followers. Sad day.
