How much do you think the zoo keepers know? They're suppose to be extensively trained, but clearly something like this doesn't happen often and the one in question can't work under pressure.
Do you know when the gorilla was last fed? All animals are fed on a schedule, and if you've ever been to the zoo after feeding animals are just like humans. They're not as active after getting full.
Do you think the zoo keepers had an emotional attachment to the gorilla and would have preferred to have it live? Obviously not if the only thought process they had was putting a bullet in it's head.

Hate to break it to you but every single person on this thread saying "humans over animals" is using emotion. Fear and the thought that they're any better than the rest of the things on this planet.

yes they're all fed on a schedule, but that wasn't my question mr. photographic memory. I asked do you know when the gorilla was last fed?
saying "obviously not" just because they took a destructive path is pretty dumb just to further your point of view. logically one would assume only a more veteran person working in the facility would have access to the gun and would lead to a bigger attachment to the animals.
