You should check out the statue of Vladimir Lenin in Seattle too btw, I'm sure they'll be keeping that one around as an exception ;)

Such monuments only need keep a story attached to act as a reminder of the past. You can only avoid repeating past mistakes by knowing exactly how they came to be. Erasing the history only ensures it's repeated at some point. But vocal groups will keep pushing their own bias and screaming foul at anyone who gets in their way, even after what they fought for was won long ago as there always needs to be an enemy to keep such groups together. And so the wheel they railed against keeps turning, where that same bias blinds them to what they are themselves inflicting on others. And in turn they find themselves in the same position being ground beneath the wheel, given enough time. The purpose of adventure is to shine light into dark places,
