I 100% agree that FZ should be watched before FSN: UBW. I enjoyed FZ more too, probably because I am not a fan of Shirou with his power ups. Archer is awesome though.

Yup. Fate/Zero is probably one of the best animes I've watched.
Totally agree that you should watch FZ first then UBW as you actually get to know some background stuff when watching UBW so you aren't left hanging on what's going on.

I actually watched Fate/Zero first, then watched the original 2006 Fate/Stay Night then went to UBW. I would also recommend to NOT watch the 2k6 FSN and go FZ>UBW

I thought Netero was badass, considering all that he risked and sacrificed in order to save the world.

You seem to forget, that Netero Meruem was going through a change of heart with Komugi and wanting to make a deal so he can coexist with humanity. Netero was basically saying fuck you to all of that because he wanted was literally looking for a strong opponent as he was the strongest character by far with him and iirc he had never actually had a challenging fight

Coexist? More like enslave (not like that is much better than how their government is). Yeah Netero fought him partially for that reason but I think the conflict was just.
