Be especially careful not to overtighten at all the block onto the CPU. Skylakes are the bendy straws of CPUs.

Thanks for the heads up. Also I found out that I ordered the i7 6700 and not the i7 6700k which is .6GHz faster and overclockable while the other one is locked. So two completely different versions of the same cpu with a single letter of difference between them. Hell they even have the same price! (give or take $20) so now I'm trying to exchange it and hopefully they will take it back or I'm going to be heated.

The company was very nice and agreed to take it back and I ordered the correct one!

Still need to return it and deal with the wait and inspection before I get my refund back so that is going to suck.

I assume you know that more Ghz does not mean better cpu? The gigahertz war was already over in 2005.

Actually all cpu's in the Skylake series are overclockable as long as the motherboard will support it. K's are still simpler to do as they are unlocked, but they kinda went back to how they use to be on old cpu's.

Ghz is a very important factor afaik although it is not the only important factor, like for example the number of cores and hyperthreading stuff is also important but ghz is still important.

The article about non-k chipsets being cracked was literally released the day I sent mine back lol.

I'm not sure what article you're referring to, but the overclocking thing with skylake has been official for over 2 weeks now and it was floating around before that unofficially.
