The article about non-k chipsets being cracked was literally released the day I sent mine back lol.
I'm not sure what article you're referring to, but the overclocking thing with skylake has been official for over 2 weeks now and it was floating around before that unofficially.
I saw the article they talked about on Linus tech tips. It was released by a credible source and the first one I encountered literally the day I sent it back. I don't see why that would be hard to follow considering it is very new information.

New in the sense of days/weeks, sure. But everyone knows technology time is different. If you miss a month of technology information, you're back in the stone age. Linus is late on everything, he has always been. The livestreams he does is your best bet if you want to mess with him, because all him and that other dude do is sit there and go through article sites of new/future stuff. Just saying..

It is a weekly review. And the article they used in that week's livestream was the one I saw earlier that week and it literally came out the day I sent my cpu back. So as far as I could tell the story didn't break from any major, reputable, tech news sources until after I had sent it back.
And while I'm not a Linus fanboy (I actually don't trust them very much considering how they are running a business which runs mostly on sponsorships from the products they are reviewing) I still find them enjoyable to listen to (and at the very least truthful about the products they bash as they are not paid to review them). Also considering the amount of false rumors and trolling waiting a few days to cover a major tech update makes sense to me.
In any case it was a "new "breakthrough and wasn't widely published until after I sent the cpu back so I went though all that bs for more or less nothing. Any other questions about how annoying that was or can we move on?
I've been finding entertainment in making all these plans for PC Builds. If I had money, I'd totally buy them, build them, benchmark them, make a video about them, and sell them.

Went from a sub-$300, sub-console game-capable PC, to a realistic budget $450 gaming PC, to my actual own $1300 PC, to a $7K dream build.

Very nice budgeted builds! You really managed some excellent performance per dollar ratios.
Noticed you're rocking a 23" ips monitor for sub $200... totally going to pick up one of those.
Kinda curious about your build named "he played me like a damn fiddle" though. I feel like that has a story behind it lol.
As for your dream build I question why you need all those hard drives or if you are just filling up all the slots in your case lol. And I would say no game in the world will require 3 way 980 ti sli so you could cut costs by just getting 1 and downgrading your psu. Also why a blueray player and a player that just does up to dvd quality?
Btw as a rs player you might want to give the naga chroma a try (not the epic). The number pad is very handy for pvm/pvp.

Basically had some guy pretend to be a girl, and had me fooled for 664 days. I don't even know how it happened to me. Thought I would have learned from 5 years ago. Guess I let my guard down. Basically, he, posing as she, had his laptop wrecked in a drink spill, and was stuck using an older laptop, then a macbook. I kindly contributed $200 for a power supply that was on massive discount - platinum efficiency, high wattage (silent operation). Another friend of mine was super charitable and was about to pay for an entire i7-4790K/980Ti rig for "her" but I found out the truth before the purchase was made.
Of course, it hurts to lose a close friend. Cause of death - never existed. But I'm not much of a vengeful person, and I still offered guidance to him to join the pcmasterrace. He ended up borrowing money from parents to get that rig. So he built it with my guidance. Was like playing Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes over Skype, except with a PC build.
As for the dream build, yeah, I was just looking for ways to fill up the slots.
This is what I have currently. I just upgraded the power supply, video card, and case earlier this week. I plan on getting a second monitor to match the 27" soon'ish but other than that, I'm not sure where to go from here.
