From time to time I find myself wishing that there was a way to quote text from a locked thread. I know that it would be possible to sort of "write" the quote ID out manually, but the last part, the post's number out of all posts total, is the part that sort of stumps me haha.

Is there any way, with Linkify or otherwise, to get that number for a post on a locked thread to be able to manually quote from a locked thread?

Late edit: I suppose I should have clarified, I was thinking more specifically about posts made by a JMod on a locked thread. Non-JMods' posts can be "quoted" from a locked thread by clicking the highlight button and copying the bit from the new IRL to make the quote ID, but JMods' posts (locked thread or not) can't be highlighted.

although i'm on a potato computer, linkify crashed on me but not my browser. is that impressive?

Did it happen on a particular page? Also is it repeatable?

Tbh Impressive doesn't come to mind, you may need to try harder :)

haha, it just seemed weird that linkify would crash without the whole page crashing.

It wasn't on anything special, from what i can remember i just had a few forum windows open, switched to rs and got a crash message. as far as I know there weren't even any pictures being loaded on the page.

It sounds like it could have been your internet rather than Linkify. Your internet going out for a moment wouldn't cause your browser to crash, just whatever page you were trying to load.

Then again you were on RS maybe? I don't know. Sounds like a potato's problem :p
"Why are you posting threads, asking questions and making discussion???"

It's something I like to be able to do. But I don't know how to do it.

For example there are 5 threads in Community Home (pinned) by J-Mods that can't be quoted. Seems rather silly not being able to source and share their posts on the forums.

I have made a feature that allows us to link directly to posts on locked threads. It's not what you ask for but it's the best I can do.

Right click the post #

and choose one of the options...

And a forum link to the post will be generated for you, and copied to your clipboard.

Just paste where needed and there's your link to a locked post.

Here's a link to a post on a locked thread that RS Linkify generated

This works for all posts locked or not. If the right click options don't appear that's because RS Linkify is asleep, right clicking a second time will wake up RS Linkify and the options will appear.

Thanks for that. Does seem odd. Something for me to keep an eye out for, though there has never been a stability issue with Linkify to my knowledge. I'd like to keep that way :)

Hiya Morgypie :)

I did that some time ago when some people with Linkify badges went F2P. I think Baraxil was the first one to have it.

It serves an additional purpose too, as some forum pages don't display membership badges thus throwing an error when trying to apply the Linkify badge. So making it a default means no errors thrown in such cases.

If you preview a post and mouse over your badge you'll see it. That's one case where there is no membership badge and Linkify falls back to it's default custom badge :)

Oh that's actually pretty cool, thanks! :) That should actually come in quite handy with being able to link to a JMod's non-OP post in a locked thread.

Bummer about the actual quoting haha. I'm not the most CS-savvy person, but I thought I might be able to find that last bit for the quote ID somewhere in the "inspect" and "view page source" jungle. No luck though. :P
