Hey IndsyWincy

I had a weird dream whilst napping today. I dreamt you updated the Linkify settings page to have "Material" design from Google and I was jumping around so excited. That dream is so random, I know. I think I dreamt that maybe because I have an unhealthy obsession with everything Material.

On top of that, Jagex had released some CSS modifications that made the RS website Material design. Such an unhealthy obsession!

Here's a marshmallow for you

A bit crooked marshmallow, but still tasty :)

Yum thank you :)

Dreaming code, damn that's hardcore!

I couldn't have said it better myself, we really do appreciate her and it's hard to put into so many words. When I first came to HLF it felt like Indy was one of the best paid community Jagex mods in disguise, because of how helpful she and her rs related "products" are.

I learned some time after she is actually doing this on her own unofficial support from Jagex. I definitely feel lucky to have Indy on our side, the community~

Aww thank you Bodyy, and thanks to everyone here I feel pretty lucky too :)

Hey Indy,

I seem to remember at some point you mentioned about the online user counts and general apparent activity on the forums not being an accurate representation of the actual activity level. Is there data or information somewhere about that?

Just struck my curiosity, since the forums do seem plenty active to me a lot of times despite a lot of comments/discussions here and there about low activity because of the "active users" counter.

Hiya Erehk,

It's a really hard to work out how it works, but there are some things that are very strange.

Apparently some time ago a Jmod said the active users is just a count of how many are logged in to the forums. If that's the case then it's broken because I know of many times on HLF where there are more linkify users than active forum users. Work that out lol.

Last month we (RS Linkify users) averaged 30 posts an hour. I'm not seeing that in the in Active Users. Not even close to seeing that.

Okay in all fairness we have to consider 30 posts an hour doesn't mean 30 individuals posting, it could be 10 or 20. But even so, not everyone is using RS Linkify thus many more posts are made that are not in my numbers. The Active users is not reflecting this kind of activity.

What if my data is flawed? Have to consider that too. But the posts are there for all to see and (if you bother to count them) more than verify my numbers.

As for the post I made about my observations, please note some of my conclusions are not sound. It's just speculation and I'm already thinking differently. You can find that post here .

While this isn't a real image of a post (made it in September 2014), it's based on the RuneScape BTS 39: Demon Contracts! (2m54s — 2m56s) video where Mod SteveW is on the forums.
Nice to see the tools. I really don't think past edits can be retrieved though. I could easily be wrong but to my (limited) knowledge SQL doesn't really work that way. So a whole database filled with previous edits just doesn't seem likely to me. The thing is next week I might hear or learn something that changes my mind completely, so goodness knows.

by the sounds of it (unless mod lee was bluffing) they can pull old posts:

I've seen similar things over the years. We don't know how the original was seen though. If the post was reported there's every chance it was included in the report. There may have been multiple reports too.

We have seen a number of posts from jmods saying different things. In Websites & Forums there's a few posts on this subject.

Some jmods are just saying they can't divulge what tools they have.

But that's not always the case. Mostly they don't tell us what they cant do.

The way I see it is, if they could see previous edits they'd make it known. If only as a deterrent for covering you tracks if you were posting something undesirable.

But if they cant see previous edits, it would not be wise to say so, as then people would know they can cover their tracks.

Until a jmod can look at an edited post and say "Here's the original I pulled out of the DB" I'm going to remain sceptical :)
^
That very question has been asked, the reply was to the effect we cant tell you about our tools.

Yet another jmod stated outright a certain forum investigation was dropped because he only saw the edit not the original and could not verify claims made against the OP.

Hmm interesting, thanks for the reply (and the link to the other post). :)

According to one of my friends, the forums used to be solely members-only from 2003-2009/10. I wasn't really using the forums much at all back then, but if that's true then I wonder if the active users counter might be excluding F2P (logged in or not logged in) on top of that.

I think Lee knew what happened "before the edit" because maybe someone reported it with pics, as opposed to the non-HLF sections (not gonna say LLF because he doesn't like it!), where you get banned on sight for posting a mere puush link (I once got banned on sight for posting a harmless YouTube link on the Rants lounge without warning).

Also... I highly doubt they can access previous edits. I just don't deem it feasible judging by their current archaic architecture behind the forums.
