Just saw this, Forum Post Indicator

Posted on there and didn't like it. Thought I really... really thought that Post Indicator was Online Status in other words. The picture made me think that since that's what my eyes were drawn to. I'm hoping they don't go through with it, but if they do there will be a return of the now strike-worthy ' postcount ' posts.
I saw your post
There so much I could say about this, but I don't wish to go off topic on that thread. But since this thread is about forums I might as well get it out right now
I don't a have a problem with post count, but I have little interest in it since it tells me nothing I need to know. But just because it doesn't do anything for me isn't why I down on the proposed idea. It's not the count, it's rating system for the count that I really don't like.
They don't need to reinvent the wheel to make a fair, useful system. There are many informational forums that are highly competitive and work well. Model from those, use what works. In the sites I'm thinking of, rewards/badges/etc are for being informative, helpful, or even for asking a good question.
The idea is that badge/icon tells you something useful about the person's post history, about their credibility. Not how many characters they've typed or posts they've made.
Jagex so far do little to encourage quality and discourage spam. If they just did that then the post count wouldn't be perfect, but it wouldn't be meaningless to me either. Right now, because of the nature of these forums, high postcount does nothing for your credibility, and that's a big part of what my problem is.
