Tinypic and a few others are doing something weird. Their direct links seem to not work in browser too. I'm not sure what they are doing but I have some ideas to try.
If you know anything about this and why they don't seem to cache well, please let me know. All I'm doing is changing the image src to background url. Image size makes no difference but the origin of the image does.
I suspect it's a cache thing cos the direct links take to me a page with ads and such.

If you know a way to move to src to backgroundURL with these pics I'd love to hear about it.
The difference between the two identical pics is huge, and tbh it's enough to drive me away from some image sharing hosts. 1 mb image shouldn't take long to load.
I might play with image canvas and see what I can do there.
Edit: HTML5 canvas is hopeless because of cross domain policy, I can't achieve caching with it unless the images are hosted on the same domain as the page.
I can't control image server's cache control but I think I have found a simple workaround and I'll put it in an update later today
