- Split Screen (forum navigation on left, thread view on right) Done.
So I was reading through the thread again, and I noticed that little bit there. It sounds sooo lovely, but I don't see an option for it
.
Was it alongside the bookmark testing you did, and is out for repairs for now?
-Slides some hot chocolate over since it's nearly bed time, or perhaps is-

Are you prepared for his might?
Aww sorry you missed it
This what it looked like...

The threads would load and fade in rather than reload page when clicking links on the left hand side.
The left side always showed the content of parent directory, so no matter where you were you could navigate without reloading the entire page. The page nav buttons and links faded the content in and didn't reload the page.
The main forum section was editable so you could remove categories if you wanted.
The left side would silently refresh periodically (depending on how active you were) so the list of threads was constantly changing if both you and the forums were active.
Because you never had to navigate back to thread sections to go to a new thread, the end result was actually less requests to the server even with the semi-auto updating of the parent directory.
I learnt a few things about how people use the forums. Seems many regulars don't have the browser maximized even with high(ish) res monitors. I got a number of comments saying it was cool, but they wouldn't use it because they prefer to not maximize browser window.
The split screen required at least 1024 res, seems I underestimated the screen real estate side of things.
I will keep working on it, but it's low priority with so few users.
