As I'm sure you're all aware of by now (those who are frequent HLF'ers anyway), Mod Lee is leaving Jagex in a few days and we will not have a HLF curator. It is unknown whether the job will be passed to Mod Meadows (the current forum curator) or another Jagex staff member, or even one of those outsourced community mods (LMods).

Anyway, as this is a drastic change, I thought it might be a good time to discuss and suggest the following:

Note: these apply to both the HLF Discussion and HLF Off Topic subforums.

- thoughts on the future of the HLF and where you'd like to see it go
- are there any things that need changing? (example, a rule on the strike thread you don't think should be there, a rule that should be added, the removal of the whole thread, any stickies to be removed or added, etc)
- should all previous HLF bans be revoked and people given another chance?
- should we ask Jagex to look at a way of adding a feature to 'automatically add people who max' to the HLF, since so many people don't know of its' existance?
- should we ask Jagex to include maxed players from OSRS to join us here?

The above are just examples. Talk about anything you'd like to change or stay the same with HLF - the community we all have enjoyed for years. Can't guarantee a JMod will read this thread, but it's worth a shot. ;)

Read this BEFORE posting on this thread:

- Please do not post anything that is flaming or targeting any individuals. The farewell thread was made hidden because of this, and I don't want a repeat of it.
- Please do not derail the thread with off topic. With the change of curators, we as a community have the chance to change the HLF for the better. Stick to the topic please.

My opinions:

HLF access:

- Yes, maxed OSRS players should gain access to these forums.
- Yes, I believe those previously banned from HLF should have the ban removed and be given a fresh start. People can change over time and mature - everyone deserves a second chance.

HLF structure changes:

- I think the Insane Final Boss thread needs to be unstickied, and kept unstickied. It hasn't been updated by the OP since April - 4 months ago. If the thread is remade by someone else, I don't think it should be stickied. Links can be added to the HLF directory.
- I think the Trim Completionist Highscores should also be unstickied. While it holds a lot of history, I don't think there's enough care to keep it stickied. The cape is extremely easy to get now, and everyone and their alts have trim. It's probably better off being stopped completely, or just maintained unstickied and bumped when necessary. Links can be added to the HLF directory.
- The HLF Strike System thread is pretty outdated - everything written there could be added in the OP or 2nd post of the Help Centre thread. How often did people post on the Strike System thread to discuss the rules lol?
- Comp/max Cape Colors Values thread - maybe an updated thread that's unstickied which has a lot of the colours?
- Your Desktop & Computer Setups - is that even relevant anymore? Do people really care about how others set up their desktops? O_o

HLF rule changes:

- Will be a very unpopular opinion, but it's already an unwritten rule that FMods are allowed to moderate under emergencies. I think this needs to be noted somewhere on the Strike System or Help Centre threads, but noted that FMods cannot see the hidden posts.
- The 'no spamming' rule should be amended to once again allow the 'most posts' forum game in off-topic. Back when the rule was made, there was no reason to gain post count, but since then the forum badges have been released, with the highest badge unlocked at 2.5 million posts. There is no possible way people will get this by posting normally lol. The highest post count is 140K or so and that's taken the individual like 15 years of forum posting - no one is dedicated to the forums that much and should not require such a large count. Either allow the forum game for the completionists around, or drastically reduce the hydrix badge to 100k posts or something.
- Strike System thread maybe made a little shorter - a TL;DR version. The current is far too long for anyone to really want to read it.

General HLF position:

- The HLF should stay for the community and long standing history, even if Jagex developers themselves have admitted to not bothering to read here. We should still have a place to discuss content, etc.
- The HLF should remain a 'no FMod moderation' space unless under emergencies. A part of me feels like FMods should be allowed to change thread titles or lock threads at the request of the thread owner only .
- Keep the relaxed rules that HLF is known for

I'll add more when/if I can think of anything.

Id like everything about the HLF to stay the same thank you. No need to drastically change everything just because there will be a new moderator around
That's understandable and a valid opinion. I suspect that response is because one of your threads was apart of my changes. Nonetheless, thanks for responding ^_^

Well I can understand wanting Destroy's thread unstickied because he doesnt update it, but I still work hard to update mine at least once a month and its the only record of everyone that has trimmed and people still post and request that I update it.... Also thats not the only reason I want the HLF to stay relatively the same.

I disagree that OSRS players should be allowed in since its two seperate communities and they dont intermingle anywhere else why should they in the HLF? (Any time I see them mixed its a drama cess pit)

I think letting banned people back is ok but on a case-by-case basis... Jagex should review what their offenses were because im sure some of them were truely bad apples and still are.

I do agree on the following:

That the F-mods should stay with minimal power to moderate threads

Hydrix badge should be reduced to something a little more reasonable maybe 200k to be similar to the 200m exp limit

Bring back Most Posts thread please

Shorten the Strike System Thread

As for previously banned HLF members having membership restored, it has been tried before and was proven a bad idea. Before being done, their history should be studied. Of course they will need to have restored their character to maxed if it is not maxed now. As for allowing OSRS maxers who did not max on original game, no. OSRS is not really the official game and lacks several of the skills.

There's no point in the HLF Strike System thread existing if strikes aren't even given in the first place. Hopefully that's something that the next curator will start using. Obviously something like posting nudity/porn/etc should be an automatic 3 strikes but it seems like some people are just banned outright without any explanation. I know that a certain someone went straight for the ban button in 2016 without giving warnings. I don't think that's okay.

I would love to see Shauny as curator, but I feel like adding HLF moderation/acceptance to what I assume is an already ridiculous workload of picking up the slack of other JMods, might not be fair to him.

I think I'd like to see the reasons for their bans reviewed. I don't know if Allia (or Draco for that matter), for example, should be given access again.

I think this would work wonders if there was also an in-game message for newly maxed people telling them about HLF. (I know that it's possible to do this so there's really no reason for them not to)

I think we should give it a trial run, and if coexistence is possible then all the merrier. If it starts getting heated though, a separate HLF for them (hopefully both sides retaining access to the other) would be welcome I think. It feels weird having 2 HLF forums now after having 3 for so many years.
