Popular online game. Never heard of it.

I think my brother used to play that one

I think it's pretty well known though

Reddit and twitter have like more ninja requests and memes so its easier for the jmod to hop in there and say something quick then walk away. They get to selectively ignore stuff cause everyone else will forget it when it's drowned out past a few pages.

I guess there's less punchlines for them to work with for the forums. So its just crickets on the forums intead of the joking posts as with the other 2 sites. They should like post more for generic stuff.

I've seen other games do the whole reddit shaming of bans, guys like yo why i banned didnt do anything????? then the mod says well, you told people to die and cursed em out 87 times thru the mailing system and pms so the ban is warranted. Those posts are amusing but if they keep responding instead of ignoring they'll prob spam more.

They did good by opening the support forums for help. Going offsite for official help was just ugh. Overall it quarantined all those HACKED HELP ME PLEASE topics to that area instead of all over. I see a few support jmods weigh in with the support topics. But supports like the only recurring jmod interaction daily that I see on these forums.

They just need to like respond to topics in general more, I've only really seem them respond during update stickies topics otherwise *cricket cricket*. Which looks awkward when you see them responding to 5 different threads about other topics on reddit in the same hour.

All this could have been on the official forums though. Yes reddit allows it, but nothing about the rsof is stopping them from showing their faces once in a while.

Their reddit accounts are personally owned. Their RS accounts can't be accessed outside of work. Purely Jagex's fault but...

So they can appropriate work gear for personal use but not work from home? Sounds like a fuck up to me.

I think it's for security - as far as I know Mod Lee is the only JMod with access to a JMod account from home (because that is where he works)?

I'd much rather they be secure and unable to post here off hours (which they would probably not bother with anyway) than have a bunch of security holes with (I would say much needed) interaction.

Wish they gave em toothless accounts (no mod tools) that are post only yet still gold glow. Then they can post 24/7.

I remember Mod Jack for the mining/smithing posts was all sorry couldn't post from home so had to run into the office 2 weeks late. So them being able to post is an issue with the office only thing.

Many JMods have choob accounts, or could create them, for the forums; these have limited functionality, like FMods.

The "oh we can't post from outside the office" excuse is nothing that couldn't easily be got round if the will was there.

To be honest, I think there's far too much of a personality cult associated with JMods.

From today's news post:

""
We love Mod Shauny. He’s the goebie-loving mother hen of our community, continually going above and beyond to please Gielinor’s adventurers. He may soon need his own Popemobile.
""

Here's the thing: he's apparently BOTH a developer, and in community management. Given the widely different skills that these roles require, how is it reasonable to expect one person to excel at both?

And when will we get some dedicated (i.e. full time), professional community management staff?

EDIT:

Since posting, I see that L-Mods have been reintroduced, and this looks like some kind of outsourced CM initiative. So perhaps my last question has already been answered...

The L you say? (*(*( Archafox)*)*)*)
