(not clickbait, just couldn't fit it all in)

Just had a thought, on reddit they have the option of coming in all older cool brother ish (not to be confused with the rsof alternative bigbrother) and explain things and be truly in their element. Explanatory, cool (ish, though we still love seeing Jmods in game and I personnally love getting a response from them on rsof, ironically, though it's few and far between).

However on rsof, if someone posts something shit like: "got hacked, jagex roll back", or, NEED JMOD RESPONSE". I can imagine that someone in the offices is face palming, drinking their 3shot espresso and praying for the day when they get to be relieved of the duty of having to consider a response to such a post. Whereas on reddit, they can ignore it completely and be free of any consequences, someone will tell them to use twitter (LOL), and downvote it off the page.

I think what I'm trying to ask is, what do you think is wrong with our forums and is there a fix?

I personally believe that using alternative services to contact Jagex has helped remove the forums importance. Twitter, Facebook and Reddit between them have shown players that there are more efficient ways to contact the boss. I mean even Lee was like (on multiple occasions over the last few years): I've been shit at being active on HLF (which, might I point out, is supposed to be the place where the achieved (LOL) can sit above the rest and have a better chance of talking to the Mods), back to his point, and will do better in the future. I believe he responded to like 2 pages worth (out of 50+) on that "how can we improve the game" thread a while back.

I feel like I digressed on that last one, I myself have enjoyed a three shot espresso.

So, to improve:
1, create a way for the "tweet jmod for help" thing to be via the website instead.
2, implement some kind of justice +1 -1 system with limitations on abuse.

3, heavily emphasise "Jagex won't roll you in the event of stupidity" and ignore without guilt any such shitpost which feels that they deserve to be treated differently. I mean we're all long time players and most of us don't frak up.

There are probably more but I've got a train to catch.

Open for the usual barrage of crits/shitpost/#opknowsnothing/comments/thoughts.

To be honest, I think there's far too much of a personality cult associated with JMods.

Unfortunately, a portion of the player base will always give them the rock star treatment, and I think it goes to the heads of many of them.

I think I know what you mean. I recall the crowds around them at such events such as gameblast and various other ones and the obsession about it all. Surely if we collectively started treating them with the contempt some of them deserve, they'd be doing anything for our approval.

People sitting all day in an office and creating something that doesn't serve to end major world issues is a waste imho. Yet again we can argue and say that the bard & jester is and has always been needed in society to cheer up the masses from the issues mentioned above.
