Reasons for why HLF died

The 2016 Purge was due to Mod Infinity. Because he felt like is was his job to 'moderate' the intentionally unmoderated forum. We lost a lot of people (myself included), none of whom deserved their removal. I got removed from the HLF for defending someone who was telling Infinity that he was full of shit (which he was).
IDK WTF Infinity's issue was, but it's been well-documented by several sources, not the least of which is this comprehensive video of his JMod abuse:

I knew what happened since a few people have told me. I figured it might've been a taboo topic because I couldn't find posts discussing it or even out right mentioning it later on.
I'm no fan of Infinity and I know much of what he's done-
-but hopefully that stays in the past, even if the damage remains with us. Can't say a lot of good will come from hunting him down since he's gotten away with everything already.

They're a lot better these days I feel. Could be just that the damage is done and forum activity is low.
Its not much consolation nor will it bring people back to the forums, but reddit has the same issues now. The subreddit mods will shadow ban users they dislike, remove content they dislike or posted by users they dislike and the general attitude is...very negative. Its funny how people would meme about people like Draco on reddit, but they've become just like him.
