Compared to other forum boards, RS is one of few which strictly doesn't allow any form of fair use against legitimate forum users who aren't trolls.
Why aren't we allowed to freely make posts with criticism taken from Jagex's own source and then dispute them? Why do we get censored out? Why does a thread that is in the wrong section get locked but a troll thread stay up?
It's no wonder why people have moved to reddit even if forums is better for long term information, short term and not being censored as much (though RS Reddit also has North Korean tier Moderation which almost takes away freedom of speech and fair use on so many levels) and twitter has no limit on freedom of speech at all.
Why do legitimate threads which cause no harm get hidden? Or threads which give good constructive criticism against Jagex themselves get locked? People ask me in game everyday "HyunA, why don't you post on HLF anymore" and my answer is, the censorship is far too strong to the point it's redundant even posting here or checking posts. I'd like for RS forums to be great again, I do. But at the rate this censorship and lack of fair use is going idk what to say, in fact this whole post will probably soon be filled in asterisks coz I get censored that much, even upon returning last time I got censored for posting a simple harmless image macro gif which honestly wasn't even that bad but it's whatever got a KYS Gif is perfectly okay here and no J Mod hid that (shame on you).
/Don't take me seriously, but Fair Use, Freedom of Speech and being able to freely criticise something shouldn't be censored out and should be welcomed.
I've been gone for quite some time in terms of forums (1 year or so), and I've noticed it's really really dead. Kinda sucks honestly, I miss when the HLF was really active and there were quality threads and not total crap.
As for F-Mods, it's the same old same old. Some are really chill and others (some of which who are on HLF and I wont name names, but you know who they are) are really crappy at what they do and are totally unfair and quick to use their powers.
I do wish things would be looked at for forum activity as well as the F-Mods, because I have a feeling most people left because of them.
But fmods are still so aggressive that jagex didn't even need the highlight for rule abuse features (already designed to flag malicious posts), and thus converted thighlights to only report real life threats.
And they find it safer to lock threads and tell you to appeal their decision (which rarely succeeds) rather than allow productive posts and risk (which they cannot recall happening) being judged by review jmods.

As an example, a wrong section thread may be locked (not moved) if it's a misplaced trade or recruitment thread. Why? Because if we just moved them, people would know that by deliberately posting in the wrong place they get a free advertisement in that forum. Then it would become a normal spam tactic and general pain in the ass. This is just an example, I'm sure it doesn't apply everywhere, but it might make things clearer.
Bear in mind, too, that a moved thread shows a padlock in its original location, which can cause confusion as well.
As to troll threads... if we use our judgement to close one, we're told we're being fascists and lock happy. If we don't close it, we're blamed for leaving it open. That's a no win.

As much as I'd love to hate on arch, and believe me I would, this isn't an Fmod issue that Reddit and social media like to portray... it's Jagex behind every Fmod having them enforce things a certain way on these forums.
Rules and Guidelines aside, it's Jagex ultimately running the Fmod's. Although there are your "special" Fmods like Archie here who thinks he's in the wild west and generally gives no shits about the state of a topic/thread.
TLDR; let's just remember to give Jagex a proper amount of hate where forum enforcement is involved.
"Why are you posting threads, asking questions and making discussion???"

This.
Many troll threads don't break any rules, so locking them right off the bat is prejudice against the poster. <insert rant about 'bias' FMods abusing power>
A fairer approach would be to let the thread develop a little and see where it is heading before taking action, which is what happened. <insert rant about 'bias' FMods not closing down trolls>
So if we're going to get accused either way, I would feel more comfortable taking the second approach which doesn't actually discriminate between users.
