Who says I don't play other games? I'm playing one as a I type this. Maybe someday you will learn how to do 2 things at once, or to be able to comprehend wanting to talk about things that you have previously been a part of, even if you aren't anymore.

You have me there: over 40 years of gaming, and never once have I randomly decided to go visit the community of a game I haven't played in a long time. If I'm playing another game, I'll be on *it's* forum.

Now yes, nostalgia is a funny thing which does cause me to occasionally revisit a game I've not played in a good length of time; but either I get re-hooked or I don't. Most of the time I remember why I stopped playing in the first place, and then I just find something else to play instead.

The reason I'm here on the forum is because I *currently* play RuneScape. I also played RuneScape in the early 2000's, and between about 2010 and 2017 I didn't play or even think about RuneScape, let alone randomly decide to pop-in on the forums. I left, RuneScape was irrelevant to me since I no-longer played it, and became relevant again in 2017 when I came back.

All you're doing, by dwelling on the bad things you didn't like about the game when you quit, is making it harder to return in the future with a fresh outlook. If I spent a few years on the forums, steeped in the negativity of why I quit, I would *never* have returned like I eventually did.

The only important thing that matters is lots of us still play the game. Whatever we might think or say, the game has to be worth playing otherwise we wouldn't be playing it - we'd be on some other game. There are some great games out there, but the majority of people on this forum spend their time mostly playing RuneScape. Nobody is forced to.

When the chips are down, and you want to unsub but can't, maybe it's because the game's just that bit better than you'd like to give it credit for.

why do you come here to bash RS3 every time

tbh I bash RS3 because I see how great OSRS' updates are and then I check the front page of RS3 and see a SoF promo for the 99th week in a row

tbh I bash RS3 because I see how great OSRS' updates are and then I check the front page of RS3 and see a SoF promo for the 99th week in a row

There are a bunch of reasons for that, including but not limited to:

- OSRS being based on a 2007 source, meaning it's (somewhat) easier to work with in the sense that it doesn't have an additional 12 years worth of "spaghetti" added in there which is responsible for numerous bugs/glitches and limitations in today's game.

- Mod Ash is just awesome. The guy rewrote entire chunks of OSRS code himself, in his spare time, and consequentially the OSRS team have a dev among them who's more intimately familiar with the game's code than any RS3 developer is with RS3's code.

- OSRS is a simpler incarnation of the game, thus expectations of what can be achieved are lower. As a result, with a player-base willing to accept huge volumes of asset reuse on the grounds of the intentionally retro feel the game strives to keep, the developers are much more comfortable doing things in new content that they would be too expensive to do, or at least do well, within RS3.

- In OSRS, every update is polled, thus if an update makes it into the game it's because the community specifically wanted it to be there. This, in combination with the point immediately above, means developers are encouraged to experiment and try out lots of weird and wonderful things: if the players don't want it, it doesn't go in. RS3 lacks that policy, so any update which passes QA automatically gets added irrespective of whether people wanted it or not - pulling overall opinions of updates down, and resulting in a reduction of original and fun ideas in favor of relatively safe ones that are bland or boring much of the time.

Or maybe because you're addicted?

I have faith that if we give Jagex enough time, they will ruin every skill the game has.

The latest was the msr. Multiple crashes of the Java client comes with beginning to mine any ore. Click to mine, and black-screen. To make things go even slower, Jagex then loads my internet browser, just to tell me the game crashed. Well, duh. Mining the Fallen Star D&D, even after they brought it back, I've had my ftp character crash the Java client seven times, at one star.

When the Christmas event came out, I could almost guarantee the client would crash, if I even looked at the portal at the north end of the G/E. Attempting to mouse over it, 100% crash.

The constant auto-profiling of the game's graphics on my Win10 machines is also very old. Log out, log back in, fix my graphic settings, fix my audio settings that always shuts off when the graphics are changed. Hope that when the graphics were turned on High, my Java client doesn't crash. Then log into the game.

Pretty sure, Jagex Motto is: If it's not broken, let us update it so that it is broken. We don't have a firm grasp of the code, so we expect our players to be our Quality Assurance department.
