The game is good, the game itself is in a really good state. You most likely stopped playing because you found something too hard, or too challenging, but will never admit it.

I think the quests are a huge strength for Runescape. They’re unique, engaging and tell stories that build on to each other. The feeling of actually getting something useful instead of just gold and/or xp for completing a quest makes the quest cape my favorite.

Skilling is doing great with the addition of grace of elves that came into the game, so skillers are now awarded the rare drop table.

Overall game play is better than it has been for many years, better graphics better designs.

Jagex will aim to improve the game when they are able to, it's a very old game, they can't make things happen over night, we have to be patient with the developers.

So yeah, Runescape 3 is very much ALIVE!!!!

Firstly, I question the neutral stance of your question by the way you worded it. The OSRS community as a whole is great, but I really don't understand the sometimes hostile approach to talking about RS3 vs OSRS by sole OSRS players.

While I primarily play RS3, I have started to play OSRS on the same user since the summer time. RS3 isn't a new game, its simply what OSRS evolved into over time. I'm okay with that & the innovation it brought, but I'm glad I can go back and play the old way every once and awhile.

It does sadden me a bit how fast the average player count has been dropping on RS3. And I know the last few years haven't been the game's brightest times. However, with that in mind, I don't think all updates are bad. I just feel they have made the mistake focusing too much on MTX that have nothing to do with the core story of the game. Does the RS3 development team have much to improve upon? Yes, but I think its a far cry to say its a bad game.

I have faith in quests. They need to do more of them and not those pointless bottle quests they spend 5 minutes making.

Feel like they have no idea how to break out of a dailyscape mindless grinding for their content ideas. Literally every event has been something like that. If they do break that dumb cycle I think they'll be ok. If there is a menaphos rep grind 3.0 not ok.

Also think they stuck themselves with a tierscape problem. Is it better than current x if not there is no reason to do that content. Brand new trees!!!!! oh its below the best who cares.

They need to fix pvm shooting out skilling resources. Its like pointless to manually gather when you can afk monsters for 20x the rate. I have like 20k of each herb and 50k magic logs and I've rarely planted a herb or cut a magic tree in years that's just stupid.

A lot of the reason Runescape doesn't get the new player is there are too many games that give instant gratification. Nobody wants to do the old school grinding anymore of the D and D type games. They want to play easy games with fancy effects. All this experience give away will not save RS.

There's an element of that, yes. We live in a time where games do tend to give instant gratification, and (especially) young players expect that. However there is a strong audience out there looking for that one super-deep long term grind to sink their teeth into, because instant gratification games don't satisfy them.

I think RS3's biggest problem is that it has a bit of an identity crisis. It's a massive long grind, but it pretends to be an instant-gratification type game.

New players discovering Treasure Hunter get lamps and stars each day which significantly boost skill levels (especially early on). If they log-in during an event, they can show-up at the event location, click one of the attractions, and watch as they power straight to 30 or more within less than an hour.

Those who're *looking* for a grind see that and balk; they believe most of their progress will probably be given to them by handouts, and don't expect the game to be satisfying.

On the other hand, those who're looking for instant gratification get hooked on the freebies and handouts this game has to offer, and things seem good until they hit maybe level 50-60 in skills and Treasure Hunter isn't cutting it any more, and they need to do more hard-work than they expected in order to make meaningful progress within a decent timeframe.

it usually doesn't take the pro-grinders long to discover Old School RuneScape. Despite the more dated graphics and mechanics compared to RS3, it's much more obviously the kind of grind those players are looking for, so they stay there.

That, I think, is why RS3 has a big problem retaining new players while OSRS doesn't.

Every single update that arrives is either broken, buggy, badly balanced or irrelevant and the staff count keeps dropping whilst they are put onto other projects.

EDG's are great, PoF was nice and fun, even if it could do with more rewards

i have a genuine question for you:

what drives you to keep coming onto forums to bash EoC (even if it is in the badly disguised form of "genuine questions&quot ;) instead of just playing the sub-game that you prefer?

Its not really the updates that keeps me here. I have played 18 years and there are
still many things i want to do. I have played 976 days 16 hours on this account alone.

So updates and such are not relevant.. sure i like to see new things but like i said
there are things I still want to do with whats here now.

I had rather see good updates taking longer to get out than sloppy ones just
thrown around though.

But as poster said above me... " why do you come here to bash RS3 every time
a new update happens." are you that unhappy in OSRS?

Who says I don't play other games? I'm playing one as a I type this. Maybe someday you will learn how to do 2 things at once, or to be able to comprehend wanting to talk about things that you have previously been a part of, even if you aren't anymore.

also go to the makeover mage vaseth that shitty ass forum avatar makes you look retarded

I don't even play osrs anymore and haven't done for over 6 months now so don't try and use that as an argument (which it isn't btw)
