Three items:
1) The axe is clearly decorative (as in a lawn ornament) with the cut-outs in the blade.
2) The round handle offers no lateral stability to the user. As such the axe will be difficult to control and will tend to roate and flop against the tree face.
3) A metal handle lacks flexibility. The shock of a tree strike is telegraphed back to the user's wrists. Also see item #1.
