Sorry, Jagex, I'm not going to go "Like" your Facebook page to enter a competition. I "Liked" it once for a while, then I "Unliked" it. I just couldn't stand the trolling, begging, trying to sell Runescape accounts, obscenities, profanities, inappropriate language, insane behavior and just plain idiocy of many of the commenters. Honestly, I'm not a prude--I have been known to use words I never heard my dad use and he was a United States Marine for 6 years during wartime. I keep the censor turned off on my Runescape account. I even know bad words in several languages and am familiar with British obscenities, too. I just don't use at least 3 of them in each sentence in my daily conversations. The last straw was the troll war over PKing. I decided that in order to keep my blood pressure down to reasonable levels I needed to avoid exposure to that particular Facebook page. I won't add it back. My life got a lot more serene after I "Unliked" it. Good luck to anyone who enters the competition. I wish you well.

Stop trolling why does everyone has a problem with everything? You don't like it? Then don't do it! But i don't see reason why to troll forum with posts like "I won't do it! I won't do it! It is only way to get more likes"...

Boo Jagex! How low can you guys go... No offense but it seems your very desperate and are looking like sellouts. I'm thinking of quitting btw this game just seems to sink lower and lower you never fix the main problems and ignore them and you do things that mostly YOU want not what PLAYERS want no one asked for this facebook stuff.

I just went through this whole thread & counted
the reply positive verses negative comments posted
(a rough/approximate count).
Positive [for the contest/Facebook] comments: 50
Negative [against the contest/Facebook] comments: 110
The numbers speak for themselves. Overwhelmingly over
2-1 AGAINST Facebook &/or the Jagex Facebook contest. :@
Now, IF only Jagex cared about our opinions & concerns.
*Sigh* :|

Sigh, more "customer support".
Nearly half of the recent news lately has been "customer support", dealing with competitions, prizes, and more ways to promote the game - in other words, topics most players really don't care about. Skip over twenty or so pages and nearly everything is game content. Not a good trend...
The irony is that customer support is much lower than it used to be. You can no longer contact Jagex directly through in-game mail, which is a crucial element: yet the number of "customer support" updates has basically quadrupled.
Facebook is a very popular trend, and a very bad one in my opinion. It is unfortunate that RuneScape is trying to get so involved, and being able to log-in with Facebook accounts is sickening.
Jagex mods typically reply to any post that supports them, and ignore or block any which are against them. As the post above me says, the ratio of likes:dislikes of this thread is about 1:2, which is unheard of. You cannot continue updating the game in such ways if your approval rating is so low. Wouldn't you rather have LESS loyal players than MORE disloyal players? I would, but then again I'm not trying to make money off this game.
There is no particular reason why I'm posting this message on this thread. The problems this game currently has are a whole lot more deep-seated than gaining support on Facebook. The game has been going downhill since the turn of the decade, and the reasons are obvious if Jagex could only open their eyes.
I didn't need to see RuneScape "liked" on Facebook to start playing this game nearly 7 years ago, and nobody else does either. Use your funds to pay Jagex mods to do their usual jobs, not to have them sitting around speaking the way ten-year-olds do wherever they post. Use your own site's forums, not a third-party networking site. Have you actually lost faith in your own forums?
Better yet, use your funds to attempt to repair the extensive damage this game has seen over the last few years.

@lord jagus
People are free to state their opinions on the matter. As are you. Giving criticism over it is fine as well. Although it's Jagex's game they can do whatever they want do everyone else want it? Take for example they removed the Fishing skill, it's their game they can do as they please. Do all the players just have to not say anything about it and say "GJ, Jagex. Awesome update."? And for the record, Facebook's security is flawed.
