In my opinion, this is one of the best ideas JaGEx have ever come out with. I have said this many times to my friends as we use massive calls over Skype which tends to get a little laggy and they all agreed that in-game communication software would be the dogs bol....

I have yet to see any mmo produce an in game voice chat that matches the quality of vent. Prime example is WoW's failed voice chat system. If you really plan on doing this all I can say is good luck. Maybe just maybe you will be the first to get it right.

I think this is a great idea, it will serve beneficial on many aspects.
You'll be able to tell who's an actual girl on Runescape for once, plus it'll make team PKing and GWD rushing much more easier.
My view on the update if it happens would be a very positive one, I'm sure you'll be able to disable if you don't want to use it, for all the people out there disagreeing.
The negative side of this would be people harassing other players because of their levels/voice tone, but I'm sure Jagex would have some sort of defense about that.

I use voice chat while fighting bosses because its much easier to communicate over voice, than it is too type. One reason is that like some people, I look at the text just to make sure that I have no errors in what I am writing, and that the information is clear so they can get my point. Doing this over voice allows me to keep watch on my hitpoints while I am fighting, and keeps my hand on the mouse so I can eat really fast, or drink a potion.
In regards of Runescape hosting their own Voice chat. It would be kind of hard because we have a lot of young people on the game that are not used to the mature game players. Yes, it would be really cool to have on the game, but to get people to respect the rules of the chat would be very hard.
I think to make this chat available to people, you would put in a new "report" system for it directly. This report system would allow time stamps of players to be recorded in 3 minute times, so right when a report is hit on it, Jagex can take proper disciplinary actions. Yes this might take a lot of space, but it would really be the only thing to protect the "young ears" in Runescape.

In all, yes. I like the idea of having a in-game voice chat, but I'm also thinking of the younger kids on the game, and their parents hearing some of the foul mouth's that todays teenagers have.
