Incorporating voice chat into runescape would be a very VERY bad idea. Voice chat can be very easily abused to very inappropriate ends. I have played many games over the years, several of which had voice chat options and in every single one of them it was possible to find someone being extremely offensive and inappropriate on mic, even in "naughty" ways.
With voice chat AND the ability to swear on RS what stops audible "Cybering? What stops a player from playing p0rn on his computer and letting his or her mic pick it up and send it into the game? What stops predators from abusing such a system to prey on the younger players? Jagex I plead with you to stop and think about the consequences of such an update.
A game such as RS has no need for voice chat. A longtime rule of this game has been to keep your personal details private from other players for safety reason - say goodbye to that with voice chat. Voice chat nulls privacy in many ways and is an extremely poor choice. This game has functioned fine for years without voice chat and will continue to do so. Players who so chose to use voice chat systems can do so at their will with the multitude of voice chat platforms availabe (such as vent, skype, and teamspeak) and those who do not wish to use them have that choice. Leave it at that. DO NOT bring a voice chat system into RS.

The poll didn't quite have the answers I would've given. The answers felt like they were either "Yes, I use it for Runescape" or "No, I never use it whatsoever". So I was barely able to answer them correctly.
Personally, I use teamspeak for talking with friends outside of Runescape while I'm playing this. I'm just not interested in having a voice communication for Runescape since that opens much more ways for people to annoy others. Yes, it's convenient for communicating between friends easily. But it's also very hard to do so with mic spammers, very low quality mics, ect.
I am interested to see what Jagex will do in the end with all of this though, I just wouldn't use it for Runescape.

It would be nice. But the last thing i want is some 12 year old kid screaming into a microphone and having my ears die from it. Or having kids ask for free money over and over. I think it should be in the clan chat settings or in some kind chat room in the game. Not over the area your in.
But it would be nice.

sounds good, i think itll work good if it will work for those logged into ur clan chat.
dunno how its gonna work at placed like GE
im sure u got more brain than me :P i like this idea itll save me from using skype :D

OK first off fantastic idea. A huge suggestion that could play a good role is to have only voice chat in clans. I say this because for one, there are a lot of people on Runescape and all hearing this at once would be chaos (EXAMPLE. GE)! Another thing is if you are talking to someone that you get into an argument with or to prevent spamming you can always kick them from your clan. you can't kick em' from the game :P I believe this could really work and can be very helpful when playing in-game. Please take my suggestion into consideration. I have never talked in-game besides other video games and think it would be a great addition to the game.
