Is there anything we can do to stop these people, besides knowledge?

Definitely!
You can report them on Twitch for
Staff Impersonating
or
Phishing Link in the Description
.
Twitch reports get viewed extremly fast and these accounts get banned in no time.

Do people really fall for this stuff still :P ? Nowadays, I figured trust of others over the internet was a long forgotten concept. I guess this isn't to be expected, though. Whenever I leave my private status online to everyone I get so much crap and scams like this. Lol. Smh.

Is there a possibility that this gets announced on the homepage of the website?

These fake twitch streams have been the top Runescape streamers the last 2 days, they reach quite a big audience.

I have been a Runescape player since 2005, seen my share of share of ways to hack accounts (key loggers, Trojans, phishing & even fake sites like this), but never have they been on such a 'trustworthy' and big site as twitch. The potential audience is too big. I never fell for one, but this time, after 11 years..., I did.

I hope Jagex is making this a priority in some way.

Hello. I'm a new RuneScape player, and I would like to warn others about the recent Twitch Phishing links. Pasting since for anyone in case it helps.

The first thing you need to know is that Jagex twitch streams will not include links below the stream for free items, double xp, or whatever else.

In light of the recent phishing stream which got to the top of the RuneScape twitch streams, I would like to remind everyone on how to detect fake links.

First of all, Jagex, as far as I know, won't make you click links for free items, if you qualify, you get it directly onto your account.

Quality of Video/Sound
1. If you see a twitch stream that is advertising any items or bonuses that has jagex employees in the stream, check the quality of the video and sound. The reason is because once a video or sound file goes through a format change, quality is lost, you can learn more about this on Youtube.

Twitch Chat
2. Yes, I'm aware that many of Twitch chat is useless, but sometimes they can be helpful. Be aware that twitch chat will be either very inactive (in a case that the stream was viewbotted) spamming don't click the link/fake, so read that before. If they are saying something malicious with sarcasm in mind, be able to recognize it.

The Link itself
3. If you ever do click the link thats advertised, (which I don't recommend), read the url. It may say secure.runescap -- something else, but it will NOT be an official link. Check the top right to see if it says Jagex Limited (secured https) in green in your browser (Chrome for me).

I accidentally put information in!! What should I do?
Obviously you should change your ******** as soon as possible, but I would advise changing ********* on ANOTHER computer, in the slight possibility you now have a keylogger on you computer. While you change your ********* for any relevant accounts, run a FULL virus scan on the potentially infected computer. After that, clear all browser cache/computer cache.
Thanks!
Wind
