On free trade:
I have talked about how responsible jagex is over the player's gaming experience in runescape. The reason why I left runescape however, is due to the banishing of free trade back then. The entry of grand exchange shocked the sense out of me. Many of us old players just backed out of the game immediately.
By the time when Grand Exchange entered the scene, I had been playing for a fair four years. All along I had never thought the economic scene would be changing that much. Sure, I could lose millions of gp overnight as I sleep due to the plunging in prices of provisions such as iron ore and herbs that I hoard by the hundred k's. But that much isn't surprising either. Like the wildy, when i hoarded these provisions, I was prepared to lose gp, as much as I was prepared to earn.
The entry of the trade limit - 3k gp give or take was a rude slap on my cheek. As I traded rares with price margins by the millions, I lost everything overnight.
At this point of time, some will say - "good for you".
I say, no. To combat RWT and botters, other MMORPGS have done their own research, established procedures and restrictions - *hat have worked. Perhaps that might be the reason why jagex is reconsidering the trade limit.
Part of the MMORPG experience is to trade items, exchange game currency FREELY. After all, it is a massive multiplayer online role-playing game. Hundreds and thousands of players interact be it in combat, trading, social-linking, etc.
Across the vast scores of MMOs I have played, I have been told that the trade limit in RS is a JOKE. other MMOs have established in-game marketplaces that sells items for real-life currencies. In short, that spells "bye-bye" to RWT. Who needs them now? You want a full bandos? Just pay 75 euros and there you go, a full bandos item pack - permanent durability. Too dear? very well, here's a temporary 7-day bandos pack for 15 euros.
