To many, the idea of a new Runescape trade and “PK” system may seem like a big change. But for a lot of the players, they’ve been there and done that already. And whether they liked it or not the first time round, it happened. The sheer inevitability that these, well lets say “Original” players faced in 2007 was an all too sudden, and might I say HUGE change, and was also enough to make a lot of them quit. As one of these players, I can fully agree that a lot of the people who are reluctant with changing it around back to like it was in the good old days were probably not around to even play it. Therefore, it seems quite one sided with an attitude of “I like it, I want it, I keep it“. And while this is their opinion and they are entitled to it, I don’t think a lot of them have thought through the advantages and disadvantages of both systems and how it would affect them. Just as you could rack up a load of comments each saying what they want, their reasons might not be suited for another person‘s. Just as you do things for that good feeling you get when you know you’ve done something that will indefinitely help and bring joy to another person, I think on the day you changed the systems, you lost a lot of your best fans. I used to take pride in using them, too, how the wilderness was always very fun and the phrase “Trade limit” was unheard amongst the players. But now, it’s as if we are living in the shadows, as we cannot gift each other with items or money, have a good fight in the barren wastelands of the wilderness, and overall not have as much fun as we used to. Yes, there are concerns involving Real-World trading. Yes, there are concerns involving annoying bots, but lets be honest, Runescape wouldn’t be complete without that sort of thing happening. And I think one way or another, the people doing the dodgy dealings are always going to find a way to exploit the new systems somehow, whether you like it or not, and no new “Cyber crime combat systems” will fix that
