I really don't mind this measurement of interest, it's a great present for many people! I can continue to enjoy the game no matter if free trade returns or not too.
I am disappointed about the form this measurement has taken however. The result will be greatly inaccurate, and people signed up without their agreement has reason to be frustrated.
Surely Jagex is getting good publicity from this, but I fear quite a few is getting a less positive view of Jagex too.

Jagex, please don't listen to the people who want to vote no. If you think about it they're voting for TINY reasons which is actually really selfish. For example they insult you by saying you'd totally forget about clan wars and the corperal beast when i'm sure you'll come up with easy *****ions by either moving them or just making a teleport to inside the corperal lair.
Please don't listen to the selfish minority, they are either full time skillers (who miss out on the best part of the game), botters or people in merch clans. Thanks.

P.S to any idiots thinking prices will go up, iteams stay in the game when you kill someone instead of leaving the game. Therefore the prices will go down.
Summary to the people who cbf reading the thread: The only people who want to vote no are botters or merchers. Obviously all pkers are in favour of this update and it doesn't effect PvM'ers or skillers. So only botters / merch clans want to vote no.
Also it's been confirmed that all non PvP activities will be taken out of the wildy so don't try that pathetic reason.

its the way they go about it,either way im giving thought to dropping membership and strongly urge the other 8 i recomended the game to over the years ive played, i played origanal on a web tv. i dont like the idea of them just messing with people, way to cause chaos and division for xmass. might just be time to goto a free acc.

I personally am fed up with all the comments stating "You can vote mutiple times on one account!" or "You can enter a fake account name!"... I tried it and when you enter a VALID account name that is UNUSED your vote button WILL CHANGE from "vote yes" to "thank you for your vote return to Runescape.***"... The "votes" you speak of coming from fake accounts or multiple votes from one account are infact NOT COUNTING...

How am I meant to do my clue scrolls, wilderness quests and get to Stealing Creation when I'm in constant fear of being pk'd? They have their own world set out for them to destroy each other and I think it would be stupid to mix that into the normal players. I'm not a pker, so I don't want to be constantly checking my inventory before I go into the Wilderness to see if I have anything to lose.
Also, the free trade limit cannot return. Just think about it, when people buy their Divine Spirit Shields for 1b+ they are given the shield and junk in return. Although the seller may now have 1b cash, he had to give up the shield AND junk, so he has not made any profit. All the seller has done is sold a couple of items extra with the shield. If the free trade limit returns, then the seller will except 1b+ WITHOUT giving away his junk. Merchanting will go through the roof and I won't be able to get any of the necessities.
And just think about the community; real world trading will mean that everyone will have Bandos sets and will say things like "Where's your Bandos? You don't have a set? Pffft, noob!". What if I want to join an Armadyl trip? At the moment I use black dragon hide, with the free trade limit I will be expected to have Armadyl, so players will be shunned from trips!
I play Runescape for fun, but also for achievement. Seeing myself get 80 Runecrafting gave me such joy. But the one achievement I really want to get is a Yellow Partyhat. With free trading, what's the point? They'll be merched into oblivion, so players will probably just log onto an autioning site and buy one for £50. The achievement I've been striving for many years to get could be done in less than 5 minutes. What's the point now?
