Despite what a lot of people say i pray melee against verac, he will only hit through prayer when he gets a special attack thus saving food. Also if you are using melee, use void. The extra damage you do is very helpful and I have killed guthans in 3 hits at only 91 strength. If you have the money (or levels) i reccommend using prayer renewal potions too. When maging i would use void again although you don't need the extra accuracy it never comes in wrong. Use a polypore staff because the damage is great and you save the inventory space for runes plus if you can get the spores yourself they are much cheaper than other maging options. Slayer dart is another good choice because more than likely you will end up with more of the runes you use than what you take.ROW is helpful as it will let you get things you normally wouldn't (usually restore pots or prayer pots) And use drakan's medallion to teleport to barrows after you loot the chest for very fast runs (just make sure to recharge it with your last charge)If you have completed the ROTM quest remember to bring an extra weapon (although you should really bring one whether you have finished the quest or not for ahrim and possibly karil). Lastly remember to have patience, I have done thousands of barrows runs and only gotten 3 items. But it is a very fun minigame and it's very rare that you lose money doing barrows unless you use ice barrage and whatnot. Happy hunting friends.
after completing Branches of Darkmeyer bring drakans amulet. use it to teleport stright to barrows and you can teleport to the bank in burgh de rott. also if you bring your darkmeyer clothes you can teleport to darkmeyer and bank and use the altar there
For any levels, use a black salamander, and whichever tar comes with it, ( i forget which tar it fires off) but it tends to work good on all brothers. If ur tunnel is dharoks, always make sure to keep ur prayer reasonably high, for dharoks can bust some pretty good hits on u, and can even end up killing you.
GL with barrows everyone!
A tip for the mages:
If you're melee stats are low, don't be afraid. Despite the range armour, Ice Barrage will bring Karil down in about 3 casts. Expect to see a 380 pop up if you're 99 mage.
TIP ##1
"The No Prayer-Blitz & PPS & Melee Method" This method saves on PPots and you will basically only have to provide the start up runes for your Blitz. I rarely have to provide anymore runes. The drops of Deaths and Bloods will keep you strapped.
This works for me and may not work for others. Here are my stats:
My stats: 99- Attack, Strength & Constitution, 96 Mage, 95 Range
60 Prayer and 75 Def.
Any quests that speed up your route to Barrows are HIGHLY recommended for this to be effective. My time from bank to chest is 10 to 12 minutes on average.
Outfit: Mystic and a Farseer Helm, PPstaff, ROW,Fury,Zamo Book & DFS,DDS and Whip, Rune Chain and Black DHide Body & Chaps.
Inventory; (Xtra items above &
Super Att ,Str & Def, 200 Bloods &Deaths, 300 Waters 50 Laws.
The rest of inventory Rocktail & Shark mix.
I go counter clockwise starting with the top left mound then ending with Ahrim.
Mage all the Melee brothers: Open tomb, Blitz, Farcast PPS, if Brother survives and starts to move, run to opposite side of tomb then Biltz again and repeat till they drop.
For Karil- Switch to Rune Chain and DChaps and pot up then DDS and Whip em.
For Ahrim-Switch to Dhide Body and Chaps then DDS & Whip em.
TIP#2
If you are new to Barrows, write down all of the answers to the Barrows doors and keep this handy, until you memorize them.
Peace and Love!
Try a black salamander, it allows you to be strong against all the brothers while saving inventory for that extra prayer potion.
Bring a bronze dagger, it works well for taking out the cave rats.
An easy way to restore prayer points without the use of prayer potions is to use an ardougne cloak 2-4 to go to the monastery and replenish prayer points, then use drakan's medallion to get back to Barrows. Ardougne achievement diaries and Branches of the Darkmeyer quest is required. If you haven't done Branches of the Darkmeyer, you could use an altar in your player owned house.
My primary method involves full ganodermic, soul wars cape, melee defence gear. The weapons I use are a whip and dragon defender, polypore staff, and dragon claws.
For my method I recommend 94+ Magic, 85 Defence, 75+ attack and strength, 70+ prayer, and a decent amount of money.
I kill dharok's first, and I use the ancients spellbook spell Ice Barrage (level 94 magic and desert treasure required) to freeze him, and then I use the polypore staff from afar. I then run to karil, and protect range, just use polypore staff. After that, I switch to my dragon claws, and go to kill Ahrim with my dragon claw spec and whip (w/piety or turmoil), I tank the magic from Ahrim as I am wearing a Ganodermic Visor, Poncho and leggings which give me 50%+ magic absorption. I then go to kill Akrisae (if you have done Ritual of the Mahjarrat quest), and turn protect melee prayer on with the remaining prayer points I have. I first barrage Akrisae until he changes prayer, then I whip attack, then polypore etc. Then for the remaining melee brothers, you use the spell Ice Barrage, and safespot with Polypore staff. For the tunnels, get to the chest room asap, and kill the boss. I recommend getting 6 killcount off the surrounding creatures. Then loot. Rinse and Repeat.
Happy Barrows Plundering, I myself can't do this as much as 4 frames per second is not ideal. Good luck.
