Some FAQs/rules about the Samurai Selfie competition this January! Feel free to ask anything I've not covered below.
Over what dates does the competition run?
It opens on Wednesday, January 14th, and closes on Sunday, January 25th at 23:59PM GMT. Voting also closes at this time.
How do I enter?
Head to our competition page on Facebook , and enter your details (and picture!) in the form at the bottom of the page.
Alternatively, you can enter on Twitter & Instagram by uploading your image and using the hashtag #RSSamuraiSelfie with your caption to enter automatically!
You can only enter one image, so ensure you’re happy with it before submitting it!
What information do I need to enter, and what is optional?
We need your RuneScape name and email address, as well as your photo and a caption, but the other fields are optional. Although we’d love you to follow us on YouTube, Twitter, or Google Plus if you don’t already!
You do not need to supply these details when entering through Instagram or Twitter.
What are the prizes, and what form will they come in?
The winning prize is a £50 iTunes voucher, and there are two runners-up prizes of £10 Steam vouchers, all courtesy of our Partners at PayPal Digital Gifts. They will come in the form of a redeemable code, of which there are instructions to redeem here (iTunes voucher) and here (Steam voucher). If you are not a UK/US/DE/Austrian resident, we'll transfer the equivalent monetary value into your PayPal account to spend in on iTunes/Steam.
We’ll choose the winner of the £50 voucher and the two runners-up prizes, and your gallery votes will decide who wins the ‘special prize’.
Any tips?
Be creative! Use every tool you have at your disposal – the Orb of Oculus, emotes, backdrop, in-game text, and your friends to produce something different!
Am I allowed to edit my picture externally?
In short, no. We just want what you can do in-game. Entries which have been edited with additional graphics (filters, text, images), will not be counted, and will be removed from the gallery.
I don’t have a Samurai outfit. How do I get one?
All you have to do is get this year’s Premier Club membership , and purchase it through PayPal. A full list of FAQs can be found on the link above.
I’ve already purchased the Premier Club membership, and haven’t purchased through PayPal. What can I do?
If you’ve already purchased Gold Membership, unfortunately you won’t be able to get the Samurai outfit. However, if you have Bronze or Silver, you can upgrade using PayPal, which will enable you to get the Samurai outfit!
If you can't get the Samurai Outfit, fear not! There are additional options for you though. Think Tetsu armour, Samurai Haircut, and Katanas! The key thing to highlight is we want you to be creative.
If I don't have the outfit, can I take a picture of a friend instead?
The idea is that it's meant to be a 'selfie', so we'd need you to be in it. However, you can take pictures with two or more of you! We'd need the overall theme to be Samurai-based though, and at least one person to be dressed like a Samurai (either with the bespoke outfit, or Tetsu armour - see the answer above for more information on alternative options available).
What is the ‘special prize’?
Well, it wouldn’t be so special if we told you, would it…?
How can I vote in the gallery?
Head to our competition page and click the ‘Vote’ button in the top-right-hand corner. You get one vote per day, so choose wisely! Pop back each day to check out all the new entries each day!
How will I know if I’ve won?
If you’ve entered via Facebook – we’ll contact you either through the email you supply us with when entering, or via your in-game inbox. Keep an eye out!
If you’ve entered via Twitter or Instagram, we’ll DM/private message you using the respective platform.
