Fairly sure jagextom was on the approved list on the wiki as I remember reading about it in a thread, and a fmod told users the links would be perfectly safe.
What measures have you taken to prevent such things happening?

Yeah this is getting really out of hand and It's quite annoying to see them having the feel they need to go that far just to do that kind of things.
They obviously don't have much else to do rather than to cause more problems and issues like this, Thanks for the heads up tho JD
I'll keep warning the other players around Twitter and spread the word to not click on any links etc from them and of course give them the Twitter J-Mod WIKI article page.

JagexTom was an ex-Jmod account which by the looks of things has been deleted, and then the username has been freed up.
We normally secure Twitter handles of ex-Jmods for this particular reason, but it may be that he deleted his account before we had a chance to secure the name.
Our Jmod Twitter procedure is getting a revamp in 2015 to hopefully prevent things like this happening again in future.

You know you can probably get their twitters shut down right?
We report where we can, but it's out of our hands as to whether they get blocked, unfortunately.
Also, it's important to emphasise - if you're looking for support on Twitter, please contact @JagexSupport as your primary contact, rather than an individual Jmod.
Don't report them through their twitter page, go here: https://support.twitter.***/forms/impersonation
impersonation is against twitter rules and they'll remove their accounts, while I think it's easy to get around by posting something like "I do not work for jagex this is a parody account" in their account info but at least it'll get them gone for a bit, well I'm not 100% if that will protect them but I think it does.
Not sure if you've already reported them through that method since it's sort of hidden away from the main twitter but I believe they respond quicker to impersonation reports than spam/whatever other options you get through their twitter timeline pages
