RS3 is not really RS3 but more like RS2.3
RS1 - Runescape classic. 2 dimensional tiles in a partially 3 dimensional world. All monsters were 2D and very few items were actual polygons.
RS2 - Complete rebuild of the game world, combat interface, sound effects, and music. Majority of the world was made 3d with the exception of items on the ground. The world was actually doubled in size, hence why we can run as in RS1 you could only walk.
RS2.1 - RS HD: The game screen can now be maxamized and a lot more texturing added to existing layers of graphics. You can still turn everything off and make it look like RS2.
RS2.2 - Evolution of combat - Added features to combat to make existing combat more interactive. Existing monsters were rebalanced...well some of them were. Quite a few are as weak as ****.
RS2.3 - NIS - New Interface System - ability for players to shift existing features around the screen.
RS2.4 - HTML5 - New "front end" to better display the existing game environment.
RS3 - Jagex ditching Java and the game looks as sharp and detailed as WoW / Guild Wars 2 / League of Legends... you get the idea. I doubt we'll ever see a redesign of the existing world. Jagex 2019 New Year Resolution... MTX our customers until RS3 SERVER SHUTDOWN PARTY!
Don't buy keys on Treasure Hunter, if you do Jagex will only make more TH promotions

It's a shame to see all the high-level players (even max capers) trolling about how bad this game is while they've spent hundreds of days (literally) to achieve what they've got now...and still playing.
YES, the game has it's good and bad parts like any other games. For example:
In LoL, if you can't play you better delete the game off your computer. Not going into details. You probably know what I'm saying if you've been in touch with the community.
By the way I still don't know how can a COSMETIC shop can be Pay2Win? You can get RsGP, buy bonds and spend it on RuneCoins and spins.
Oh yes, spins. I'm not really fond of that update but I'm still using it as it's alredy implemented and can't do much about it. :p
You can get hefty XP from there. But I assume everyone experienced that's not the case. All you get is small XP lamp and cash bags. Players with full Friends list may get a private message someday (like every 2-3 weeks) telling them what kind of rare (Huge XP lamp / 200m) they got. Not common, eh?
But who am I to convince anyone about my opinion? Heck, they think what they like, like myself. But the problem is that the active players base (I'm talking about who dislikes the game but still play it for some reason - no need for excuses, it's still something to play for) have chosen a blind hate instead of taking the slightest chances of improvement.
The same thing goes over and over EVERYWHERE. "Remove EoC" - It has been a year now...
"Customer support is bad" - I didn't experienced anything but will use that in the future! #troll logic
"The game is dieing" - Haters are more likely to give voice to their sorrow as I was saying it was (and is) something to play for. Sadly we mostly see these destructive behavior... But yes the GAME is dieing and not the community's level of intellect. Hate everything and talk **** because YOU can ... that's going to help! /sarcasm
