"1) What was the inspiration behind the Love Story quest?
2) Was it easy to introduce the WOM's old house into the quest?
3) The Love Story quest was very emotional, was this planned?
4) Despite Zenevivia's hate for quests, will she play any part in upcoming quest?
5) The WOM is an unpredictable character, so will he start a whole new chapter in his questing life, following the Love Story quest?"

1. I wanted the Wise Old Man to team up with you against some kind of uber-foe that hated you because you were an adventurer. The idea of her being his psycho ex-gf came later.

2. Yes, very easy, especially as graphics for houses already existed.

3. Definitely! I like emotion in quests, although I believe Mod John A does it best in the Dorgeshuun storyline. Besides, emotional romance with a wise old man and a psychotic freak is funny (to me).

4. No plans at the moment, but she's the kind of person who'd like a bit of excitement.

5. He's meant to be retired already! Much as I love writing for him, the last quest was meant to be his "happily ever after" ending. Still, if we have a really cool idea for using him again, I'm not averse to seeing him come back out of retirement.

Veneratus: "I'd just like to ask if we can expect any sort of sequel to While Guthix Sleeps, and if so, how far down the road could that be?"

The plot wasn't concluded at the end of that quest, so it's definitely got to have a sequel. I don't know when that'll be, but I think Mod Tytn will be delighted to get his teeth into it. He likes writing epic quests, and I think he's rather good at them.

Phytic Ice: 1) Was it easy for you, personally, to say good bye to working on such a beloved character as Zanik in the Chosen Commander quest? IE last in this quest series

I really enjoyed writing Zanik, and yes, it was quite sad to say goodbye to her at the end of the series. I think I gave her a good send-off in The Chosen Commander , though.

Trevorghost: Anyways, my question is: will we ever see a sequel to the Glourphie or Desert series? These quest series appear to have abruptly ended, but have now been overshadowed by the *ahjarrat series and the Myrque series.

We don't ever intend to abandon a series, so we're definitely planning to finish any unfinished series, but I'm afraid I can't say anything about timescales.

"I just want to say that you two guys, especially Mod Ash, are pretty much the only developers that we actually speak to when your updates are released, and for that I thank you."

I'm glad you find my little posts useful. I wish I had more time for chatting around forums, but as RuneScape changes faster and faster I increasingly haven't any useful answers to common questions :-(

"What I'm going to be addressing is the holding position of Scimitars."

Our combat systems pick your readyanim based on the type of weapon. It doesn't have any flexibility about checking "but if it's a scimitar, and the player has this option enabled, use a different readyanim instead". While I could write such a thing fairly easily, it's an extra pile of checks to run every time you switch weapon, plus other times, and that's really bad for efficiency.

The good news is that the graphics engine is being updated in a way that will - among other changes - probably help with that bug where the tip of the scimitar kept vanishing. So it might be possible for an artist to put the animation back, once the engine change has happened.

"In Dungeoneering as i see, there are a lot of secret messages about the future of RuneScape, My question is:
Is this true? and how many secret messages are on this skill about the future of RuneScape?"

Hawkeye8880: "Did you come up with the rewards for your various quests? Or was that another Developer? I really enjoy the new Teleport Tabs and that Disease free Farming Patch. We need more of these “convenience” rewards."

Yes, they're all my ideas. Also the monkfish (although they were going to be haddock until Mod Mark asked for something more exciting).

1) There has been a long debated question over the last several months about quest requirements. Some players say they shouldn’t be too high while some want them to be very high. It has been stated several times that the developers want 90+ requirements but it will happen over time. To set the record straight, can to clarify how long you expect these 90+ requirements to come. I think the developers should be fair to questcape holders and raise the requirements that they can keep up with. It is by far my favorite achievement and it be unfair to take that away from me by making a quest have a 91 runecrafting requirement.

2) What is your favorite quest?

3) Will we see a boss harder than Nomad in the near future?

4) Do you feel Nomad’s difficulty was to premature for a boss fight? If not, explain why.

5) Which quest do you feel really stressed you out the most when designing it?

---

1) I'm afraid I can't say when you'll see a quest with 90+ requirements. We'll still release lots of low- and mid-level quests as well.

Personally, I prefer working on low-level quests, simply because the lower the level requirements, the more people get to play the content.

2) Ooooh...

My favourite out of the quests I've written is definitely The Chosen Commander . I think a lot of things came together well to make that quest work, and I'm very proud of how it came out.

I don't think I could pick a favourite quest out of the whole game. There are so many different types of story that we tell and they work in different ways. If I tried to think about it I'd probably spend all evening deciding and not answer any other questions.

3) and 4) I wasn't involved in the Nomad quest so I can't really comment on those things.

5) Actually I think the quest that most stressed me out was The Blood Pact . It's a small, simple quest, but it's also got to function as both a quest and a combat tutorial, and it might be one of the first things a player sees after starting the game for the first time so I felt it really had to sell the game.

1. I'm afraid I don't know when that will be. I've never written a quest that I couldn't personally do, but I can't do Within the Light, and I'm not trying Nomad.

2. Chosen Commander.

4. More concerningly, it's very hard to do that kind of thing unless you have a computer that's responding REALLY well with a good connection. I prefer not to create content that's so prone to issues like that.

5. My Arm's Big Adventure. The plot wasn't making sense until I was nearly half-way through. Normally I'd prefer to fix that sort of thing before starting.

Feldrew:

1.What does Wise Old Man have under his bed?

2.Is it possible that Zanik could be involved in future quests?I have enjoyed all goblin quests and I'd love to see more.I like the idea of signature heroes,by the way.

3.Will The Drunken Dwarf play part in future Dwarf quests?

4.Are there any troll quests coming?

5.Could we someday actually see a thingummywhat?

6.Could there be a relationship between our character and some questcharacter in future quests(Like you did in Blood Runs Deep)?

---

1) I'll let Ash answer that :)

2) It's possible, but I don't think it's likely. I really liked writing Zanik and I'd quite like to use her again, but there are lots of other characters we want to use (e.g. the Signature Heroes).

3) Well, Veldaban has started drinking quite a bit, so *a* drunken dwarf will play a role in future quests...

4) Actually, trolls are going to be involved in the next dwarf quest!

5) I hope not! I expect it would be terrifying!

6) It's possible that there will be relationships between the player character and Signature Heroes (or maybe other characters). This is an idea that I'm quite excited about, but I don't know whether we'll do it or not.
