I heard recently that Dungeon Pits wasn't the planned construction update you had. When can we expect to see more from this skill, if you can give away anything? :)

2
How's it going with Elite Diaries?

3
Is there any developer roles that doesn't require very good coding/drawing abilities? :D

4 (apparantly you said you don't know much about Dungeoneering so feel free to skip :) )
Are you gonna do anything to the binding limit's of Dungeoneering, this is one of the things that put me off (I mage). You can only, for example, bind 1 rune type. Which is really not alot. Mage's can't fight with only 1 slot of runes, unlike meleers and rangers ;)

5
Are you starting to consider the graphics cool enough to finish the elf storyline?

6
On the question of graphics, can we expect to see water like in the dungeoneering trailer soon?

7
More rune-saving items/Equipment, will it ever come? :)

---

Most of these are outside of our areas of expertise, sorry.

3) We have separate people working on the code and the graphics, so no one really has to have good coding *and* good drawing ability. I personally can barely even draw stick-figures!

1) The 6th August celebrates the 3 year anniversary of the Clan Chat feature, Will we be seeing any changes in the near future to this feature, maybe a different interface of extra options?

2) Im sure you have plenty of Quests and Distraction & Diversions lined up for us players for this year and beyond, but will we see any development to other Minigames like we have already seen to Castle Wars, maybe adding quests into minigame storylines?

3) We've seen several quest series finished in recent time, Will we see the first peaks at a new quest series soon?

4) Will there be development into areas that maybe have not been explored to their full potential, Maybe a village in Prifindas, Or some of the other islands we hear the fremminiks mention so often? Could we see another side to the Lunar Isles?

---

1) I'm not involved in Clan Chat and can't say anything specific, but we don't tend to base our release schedule around anniversaries so please don't read anything into the fact that a 3-year anniversary is coming up.

2) Yes, there are minigames in development (although we call them 'activities' now). In fact there's one that should be coming out this year that I was playing the other day and I'm quite excited about. :)

3) We have finished some series, but we've still got others to finish, so I don't think we're ready to start another huge series soon.

4) I can't say anything about that, sorry.

Whisker:
"25. Will Jagex hire more employees and/or raise prices or add some other way of money making?
28. Will items' inventory icons ever be animated?
30. Why can't familiars and pets run when banner carriers can?
31. Do British people make fun of or try to mimic American accents?"

25. Oddly enough, hiring more staff is a right pain because you've then got to train them, and supervise their first couple of projects, and that takes up the time of experienced developers such as Mod Maz. Jagex is certainly happy to look at other ways of making money without squeezing RuneScapers (War of Legends?) but strangely however fast we hire developers, more are needed. And we're doing quite a lot of stuff that isn't so interesting, such as technical overhauls and newbie updates, and those occupy developer time too. Actually, I think QA is in even more dire need of extra staff than we are.

28. I think the system that generates the gourad-shaded icons isn't up to re-generating them 50 times per second to make them animate. I'd rather not risk your framerate going any lower.

30. Graphics just needs to create run-animations for all the familiars. Unfortunately that's a massive job, and they're doing other stuff instead, such as Dungeoneering updates. You might think that they'd look okay going at run-speed with their walk-animations, but it's amazing how bad they look if you try it.

31. No-one I know does that, and I don't think I'd want to see them try.

Vardath:

Dear overlords of Gielinor,

For years I have been unable to behold the marvelous streets of Varrock without fear, the fear of my heart being broken into a thousand pieces by the sight of the city’s unfortunate inhabitants.
The homeless, hungry, sick and lonely dogs have made me spill countless tears, and I feel it is time for that to end.

A marvelous quest I wish to see, after which I can roam the streets of Varrock with pride and glee. No poor hounds I wish there to be, and the beggar of whom I have fed of my wealth shall finally feel free, free to wear a purple tie of his choice.

If I must I shall convince King Roald himself to turn his grand abode into a fine doggy house, for this worthy cause I shall spare no expense.

Thank you for your attention sirs.

---

I wish I only had the time
To answer your fine post in rhyme

Seriously...Varrock is pretty full of content so I don't know if there will be any more quests there anytime soon.

Cgerman: "when creating quests, do you sometimes focus on the difficulty and amount of complexity in the quest rather than the fun and exciting parts of it? (A quest for example could be Mourning's End Part II, seems to be nothing more than a large puzzle with lots of repetition and annoying shades)."

I think Mod Dylan started with the idea for the puzzle, and the rest followed. He likes puzzles, as you may have noticed from his Elemental Workshop series.

Puzzles are quite a staple part of RPGs and some people seem to take great delight in solving them and writing walkthroughs for the rest of us.

1) Wat r u going to do with Tutuorial Island? i doubt ur keeping it on the world map just for show.
Open it up for us us older player miss our old stomping ground.

2) Quest Replay is a must! u can replay any quest u want but u wont get the rewards got it but to see how it change would be nice to see.

3) Though it probally will never come out in this runescape but 1st person view would look so sick!

4) Can u increase the clothing options? u never s any1 walking around the game with out any kinda armour. No1 is just walking in casual clothes.

5) How about saving Max hits into the adventures log, then organize it between Weapon and such.

6) Can u upgrade the Bank organization? Abc order. Armour type? Most to least?

7) How about renaming the 2h weapon to there real world name Claymore. All Claymores weilded with 2 hands i w*kipedia'd it so dont doubt meeeeee. :P

8) ....Special bar really is unfriendly to ppl that use Ddps...they use 25% of the bar but they have to w8 4 the bar to go up to 30% which i kinda feel is a little unfair so change the Spec bar from 10% at a time to 5% then fix the time accordingly.

9) Wat the hold up with holding out on the Wilderness Diary...and while ur at it make a Gnome area Diary. Dont tell me u will leave the diary armour without the Legs and Amulet

10) How about making the in-game map bigger or at least where u can zoom in and zoom out?

11) Wats up with the Dwarf Cannon hitting multi monsters in single Combat zones? Unfair much?!?

---

I can't answer most of these but I'll say a bit about a couple of them:

1) We'll do something about it eventually, but I can't say what. I think Mod Mark has a ton of different ideas.

2) I personally would love to add a quest-replay feature to the game, and this is something I've pushed for within the team, but it's unlikely to ever happen. It would be quite a lot of work and there are lots of other things we think would be a better use of our time.

1. We really don't know. It's always a tad risky opening up an area like that because old accounts keep turning up in it!

4. Coming soon. Although there's not a lot of point in wandering around in casual clothes.

6. If we try to get clever in sorting the bank for you, you'll keep finding that we haven't done it how you want it done, and you'll need more and more and more tweaks to the sorting system... It's really a lot simpler to let you sort it however you wish, and leave you alone to get on with it.

Laurazal:
"Mod Ash -- I always thought the Wise Old Man was one of the most interesting characters in Rs. ... How much of the Wise Old Man's personality and story did you have in mind when you introduced him?
Question for both of you: Did you both co-write the Wise Old Man's conversation with Zanik?"

Thanks!

I must admit that most of it was not planned. He was originally going to be a retired, pious Saradominist who gave advice and mini-tasks. However, Paul Gower pointed out that his telescope was pointing at the bank - which just happens to be the way the window points - and that he looked like he was spying on the bank. So a few months later I did the bank robbery update.

The rest of his personality came from that, since he clearly isn't a good guy even though he looks a lot like one and talks like one. So while he may claim to be a Saradominist, he's clearly got his own interests at heart instead (and he possibly hasn't realised it).

John asked me about having Zanik chat to the WOM. I gave him a brief description of the WOM's personality, and the WOM's approach to gods and adventures, but I didn't contribute anything else. The conversation is entirely his own writing.
