Those who want to "relax" and play runescape. Just use momentum and minimize your action bar and there you go, "Oldschool runscape combat" Though to be quite honest, I don't find anything "relaxing" about PvP or boss fights. Those aren't indended to be relaxing, those are ment to keep you on your toes. Also Bosses and PvP are likely the only two things that will likely require you to use the ablilities

I never got to understand why people loves the past so much, I had much more important things in my past than just a game... And seems most people saying the EOC is **** or warning Jagex that the game will die, haven't even tried beta or NOT EVEN read the post or listen the streams...

I can't wait!

Hello whichever Jagex staff is hopefully reading this :)

I know my opinion is probably too small and insignificant to be noticed and it is probably a waste of time writing this but at least this way I can't say I didn't try to give feedback.

So I've been around since early 2009, just before that scimitar graphical update :D For some people this may seem like a long time, others would think otherwise. The point is that I've seen RuneScape change in many ways, but no update (except from classic to RS2) has been as major as this Evolution of Combat one will be, and I think you all know it's very important to get it right, which I think all the Jagex staff is trying really hard at and doing an amazing job ;) But here's a few pointers to show positives and negatives I've found in the Combat Beta:

Positives:

Our avatars have fingers (yay!) so they no longer look like gingerbread men :p and I see you've already put that in-game which looks really good and realistic.

I like how we no longer stick our swords into people and through walls because they are now on our backs or by our sides.

All the abilities are an absolutely fantastic idea because not only do they include awesome graphics, but they encourage players to build their combat skills AND try new weapons because of the abilities having certain requirements.

The interface which shows all the abilities has changed since when the Combat Beta first launched and it has become much more easy to navigate through and user friendly. Also, being able to drag the abilities into the boxes on the left above the chat box is very helpful :D

While fighting someone/thing, statistics are shown where you can discover their weaknesses etc.

When hovering your mouse over an item e.g. weapons or armour, it shows the item's statistics like what level you have to be etc.

Dual-wielding is AWESOME :)

The combat triangle has made everything more balanced

I'll write the negatives on another post, sorry but I have lots to say!

Ok so I'm going to now be a brief critique and it probably doesn't matter what I say, I don't think you will change what I'm going to rant a little about, HOWEVER I did include ways to improve so please read :)

Negatives/ Improvements:

I know there's been changes on hitpoints before, but this is going too far. Hitpoints don't need to be in the thousands; the hundreds are perfectly accurate when it comes to showing the damage being dealt etc. and it was so easy to work out your hitpoints (whatever level it is, times by 10)

Giving players extra hitpoints because of the armour they wear isn't right for a few reasons. This shows players that money is more important than skills because if you have lots of money, you will only need the bare minimum of skills to have certain armour which will protect you with extra hitpoints instead of having to build your skills to be better protected. What if people (aka me ;) ) really want a certain armour but just don't have the money for it? So I have an idea, which will either be totally ignored OR just might work: If you really want players to wear armour close to their level, don't give them extra hitpoints (because as I explained above, it's not exactly fair) but instead give them a higher armour rating level or something like that e.g dragon plateskirt armour rating: 730. Your defence level: 70. Extra rating: +50 (this is just an example, not based on the armour rating in EoC).

Although I agree that the combat levels should be re-worked a bit to make it easier to figure out, it most definitely SHOULD NOT go up to 2000!! It's just going overboard ;) Maybe it can go up to 200 so the change isn't so ridiculous.

Also, I don't know if there's somewhere else to post this but it has to do with the Eoc, so..

Please bring back Tutorial Island for these valid reasons:

It gives players the surviving necessities e.g dagger, hatchet, fishing net etc.
You could introduce abilities etc. from the EoC in it.

I personally think EOC should be optional, if once it is released and more than 60% of players prefer EOC and all the bugs are worled out - it would be more of a gradual transition and not a sudden blow!

I keep going back into Beta, mainly because I want to see how it is coming along - I'm not against something better. I don't like the hit point system, I have gotten use to this last hitpoint update and I still don't like it but I can live with it.

Ok I will say I do like how the weapons are sheathed when you are not in combat, sort of like Reckoning. My character definitely seems a bit more alive/interactive, I do like that. There are certain aspects of EOC I do like, but why can't they just take the best updates and use them?

Skilling is the same as far as I can tell, I mean no danger there now is there - so for skillers EOC won't change a thing.

I do feel that armour should only have def, attack and prayer stats, it should in no way affect your HP!!! That is just wrong as far as I am concerned, and I do have some pretty awesome armour - but to me that is cheating. You buy better armour for stats, better defense and various bonuses, but not HP!!

I'll keep an open mind but I feel that Jagex needs to as well.
