2. Why does Thammaron have a skeleton?

Real answer: The Golem was the very first piece of content I wrote - I designed it on my trial before I had even been hired by Jagex - and when I created it I didn't realise that demons never ever dropped bones. It was a mistake, sorry.

In-universe answer: He didn't die in combat, but died later of his wounds, so his death was a slow process rather than the violent turning to ash that normally happens to demons.

1. What did the Balance Elemental mean when he talked about having previously known and been at our funeral?

You think in such linear terms. The Balance elemental exists outside of what we would consider the normal flow of time, so it has known the player, will know the player and has never met the player, all at the same time. ;)

Would Godless have any restrictions on what Races could join the Godless?

The Godless have no qualms with the races, it's specifically the gods that they oppose. I imagine they would accept anyone that shows they want to escape the restraints the gods impose on their race.

Can Gods only be killed with Elder Artefacts?

Unfortunately, for our poor gods, they can be slain by more than just Elder artefacts...of course finding something of significant power to kill a god...well that's not exactly easy. But no, it doesn't have to be an elder artefact.

Is the Underworld, all the World's Underworld or just Gielinors?

Just Gielinors, not everyone's. Different worlds have their own, separate, underworlds.

Unfortunately, we have had a distinct lack of quest content this year, with one of our two quests being a rework. What can we expect to see in the upcoming months?

I am guessing that the HTML5 update is holding up a few quests. Any hints as too how much longer we have to wait? =P

According to the Adventurer's log, we are at quest #199, while the quest tab shows 183. Why the discrepency, and is anything special planned for the 200th quest?

It's been very quiet on the quest front, and I really apologise to you lore hounds who have been waiting for the next quest to come out. There are reasons for this - upcoming updates are pretty hefty and have needed our attention! Plus, we have been waiting for certain events to occur with RuneScape 3 that we're going to react to with quest content.

Let's just say that the second half of the year has many more quests than the first, and you won't have to wait long at all after RuneScape 3 to enjoy them.

We definitely have something special planned for the 200th quest. You can count on that. The 199 on the Adventurer's Log likely includes removed quests, so 183 is the number you should be following.

4) Is Vanstrom Klause really dead?
8) According to Zanik (who was possessed by Bandos and could "read his mind&quot ;) , Bandos is definitely not returning. According to Murknose, he is. Who is right?
16) Is there anything planned focusing on Khazard and Hazeel?

Sorry, I've taken the luxury of picking and choosing:
4) Yes, very dead. Twice dead, technically!
8) Bandos is weakened but not dead. Could you stop Bandos from returning if he wanted to? Guthix is certainly not stopping him anymore.
16) Not focused on them, but they are both appearing in upcoming content!

1. Why did Lucien invade Varrock during the Fifth Age? Was he after the Shield of Arrav?

He wanted the shield, it's a powerful artefact and he did so like those.

Original message details are unavailable.
2. Is the Shield of Arrav an elder god artefact?

Whilst the shield is indeed powerful, it is not an elder artefact.

3. Would Kharshai be a member of the Godless faction?

I think Kharshai is more on the fence than godless, he's not quite willing to take a side yet and the godless are a side. Perhaps in the future he might, but for the moment consider him unaligned rather than godless.

4. With Sliske possibly a god, would it be possible for at least one of the Mahjarrat to switch their allegiance from Zaros or Zamorak and begin serving him?

Possible, definitely, but the mahjarrat have had centuries of backstabbing and Slike is one of the best backstabbers around...would you give your allegiance to him knowing that? ;)

(Long question that boils down to "Are the RS novels canon.")

I stand by the novels being "canon unless we contradict them". A couple of other points to bear in mind about the novels vs the game, though:
* RS is a living, evolving game, and we keep adding to it and changing it. If we need to change an existing piece of content, we can, but we can't change the text in the novel you have on your bookshelf. We can't let the novels limit us, though. If we have a change we need to make to the game, but there's no way to make it without contradicting the novels, then we'll make the change and that bit of the novels will have to become non-canon.
* We also can't rely on all RS players having read the novels. That means we can't write in-game stories that assume the player has read the novels; the novels are an optional extra rather than something you have to read in order to get the full story of RS.

1) Is creation of the universe part of the First Age? If not, when did the First Age begin?

The Ages refer to Gielinor specifically, so certain events (including the creation of the universe) did take place pre-First Age.

Just one from me. :)

Is there any lore regarding the invisible ghost penguin? It came as a reward with Some Like it Cold, but why would the penguins want to put one of their own into the realm of all-things ghostly?

Penguins deserve lore as well!

The penguins are a little more devious than perhaps people give them credit for and remember that under all of this silliness and enormous war-machines-of-doom(tm) the penguins have actually lived a fairly tragic existence.

I believe that they would do anything and be willing to sacrifice anything in order to try and get themselves a foothold, to improve their powerbase and bring glory and power to the motherland.

Think of the ghost-penguin as a bit like Solid Snake, in that the mission is what's important and any cost is worth it. ;)

To Mod Osborne;

If there was one or two pieces of lore in the game you could change, what would you change and why?

:P

Oooooh, that's a fab question! My first one would definitely by King Arthur. I know that's rude, and he's certainly not a bad character, I just would love our real-world universe to be very definitely separate from RuneScape. Arthur doesn't fit, you know?

The second lore I would change? Hmmm...if I said Brassica Prime I think people would kill me! I'm going to go for Guthix constantly going to sleep. The world didn't invent energy drinks early enough for him.

2) The Wizards' Tower and Magic Guild seem like they are pretty similar institutions. What sort of relationship do they have, and how are they different? How has the Magic Guild managed to survive since the First Age, when it was apparently founded?

I imagine them to be friendly rivals, kind of like Oxford and Cambridge universities. They teach the same kind of magic and individual wizards might study at one and then the other.

The Magic Guild is a very unusual institution to have survived for so long. It's almost certainly undergone many major changes over that time, and perhaps even been destroyed and re-founded, so it might be arguable whether the current guild is 'the same' institution as the original.
