Jagex,
I do not intend for this post to be a personal attack against you, but rather the opinion of a veteran Runescape player which reflects the views of many around the community.
Recently you have decided that this game would be better off with a big change, the Evolution of Combat. Some of your surveys are showing decent support, but if you were to ask dedicated Runescape players which game they preferred, an overwhelming majority would choose the old Runescape. The impression I receive from this new method of combat is that Jagex is trying to make this game more like other MMORPG's, such as WoW, which functions with key-bound abilities similar to EoC. What you're missing is that we do not want a game like WoW, we want a game like Runescape. Most of us do not mind that the old method of combat was simply clicking another player and using the occasional spell or piece of food. In fact, it was what made Runescape what it was.
Jagex is a company and Runescape players are its customers. If you really wanted to make a profit, the first thing you would be concerned about is player happiness. If players are happier, they are more willing to pay real money to get in-game bonuses. Players seemed happy as it was, so did you create the Evolution of Combat because a small group of players wanted a drastic change? Did you do it because you, as the programmers, decided that you were bored with the "same old Runescape?" I'm here to let you know that, whatever the thinking was behind the release of a new Runescape, it was terribly flawed. My experience on Runescape along with just about every old friend in the game is going down the tubes with every single day you decide to do something new. Why not just give all members 500x exp to get more subscribers? You don't realize that people who have worked hard at this game are very upset at how you are running this game.
Hope to hear back soon,
Yeps
Out adventuring
