I do enjoy watching the livestreams, and I was glad to see MMG posting direct answers to questions here on the forums. It does raise my hopes, even if it doesn't quell all my concerns.
"And while you're at it, perhaps you could explain how all those spins that people *bought* didn't affect the economy, but giving me the spins that I *earned* for completing quests would totally destroy the economy."
I wasn't really planning on getting into any of the concerns I mentioned up-paragraph, but I saw this post, and it does raise an interesting and legitimate question. Soooo, I guess I'm hoping for an answer to the above as well. I've got about 257 quest points right now, and I'm thinking I only got spins for about 45 of those (couldn't tell you how many actual quests). I understand the logic of not retroactively giving rewards for things like loyalty points, but as far as Squeal spins go, there are only so many you can earn right now through questing, and I really can't see how, if people can buy packages like 75 spins at a time without upsetting our delicate economy, awarding retroactive quest spins would manage to do so.
*shrug* If spins really /don't/ mess with in-game prices, I'd love to get the spins for the other 200 or so qp I've worked for. That would be awesome.

@ Sabre- I don't let how others get their levels affect my pride in my achievements. I still have the same amount as I always did, which is more or less none at all :P If I got a level, it's because I wanted something associated with it, like a quest requirement or an item or ability unlocked at that level. Prestige, achievement, and competition don't really factor into my play style. The feeling of achievement comes from being able to finally craft potion flasks or obtaining Agile legs, not from the level itself or how it compares to others.
As such, my position to the SoF isn't really based at all on devaluing my personal achievements or something like that. I just loved how everything in the game, if earned legitimately, was earned by playing the game. I felt like it connected us all; no matter what, we knew that everyone else put their time and effort into their account. Buyable spins distort that.
The best way I can explain how is through what I used to see in the GE every day before the Bot Nuke. People would look at people with skillcapes and say, "Obvious bot" or "Nice botted 99, noob", or, even worse, there would be the person who said, "Nice 99" and the complimentee who responded, "I botted it, lol". The accusations were almost always baseless, but they illustrate a point: Players were no longer sure the person next to them had actually played the game for their success. That link, that sense of shared experience, had been weakened.
Buyable spins, for me, are a similar distortion of that sense. They offer advancement without gameplay, without engagement. They differ from bots in that I don't consider spin buyers cheaters (I can hardly blame someone for taking advantage of what's offered), but the very existence of buyable spins still disturbs that sense of connection.
Do I let that affect my gameplay? Not in the slightest. I still enjoy the game. All it means is that I will not support buyable spins.

I agree with Shogo Yahagi & Vilandon. If buying spins doesn't hurt the economy why can't we have what we've earned? Are we supposed to dump our accounts that we worked years on just to get spins for these quests? It feels like you a penalizing older players for completing quests before this update was put in to the game. We worked hard on those quests just like any n00b account player has some harder than them because we got quests done when they were new and didn't have walk-throughs out yet.
But I bet this particular question will be ignored as it raises a valid point and they don't like those.

Yay!
So hey, we can be expecting a weapon that's "comparable to chaotic maul" something like that?
And when you release level 90 strength/attack weapons, we'll get stuff BETTER than CHAOTICS but a little worse than the level 90 stuff?
Sweet!
Btw, this isn't meant to be a hate post. Please don't mind.

This really sums up the contempt with which MMG regards our concerns, as he always has. This is what the answers meant, in plainer English:
Jikkir - Twitter
"What's stopping you from changing your mind on directly selling GP/XP?"
MMG: "I say we won't. You can trust me cos I never went back on the promise made in the old RWT rule that irl wealth should never get you ahead in Runescape. Also, I is pr0 gamer."
Jacob Greenacre – Facebook
"The SoF pumps tens of millions of GP into the economy every day. In the short term this seems to make no difference, but in the long term, this could potentially damage the economy. How do you intend to combat this, if at all?"
MMG: "It doesn't affect the economy because I say it doesn't. I'm MMG!"
Hispid Gnome – Forums
"You only have 4 developers working on 'Solomon’s store' and 'Squeal of fortune' out of a team of 23, which is over 20%!!!!! That is beyond a joke. I understand that you are a business and need to make money, but 20% of your 'Developers' working on such a minor part of the... well, not even the game. 20% of your developers working on a money making spin of... Really?"
MMG: "This is so we can reinvest in the game. We've never done this before, even though we said last year that was the reason revenue was up and profit was down, because we reinvested in the game. I never contradict myself!"
Robert Ashman - Twitter
"Is SOF coded to give paying players better odds? I've not sent a single penny to SOF, and all I ever get is junk!"
MMG: "It's not because I say it's not! Also, f2p get better prizes to troll them into becoming members, but you didn't ask that, GF!"

Chris - Twitter
"Shark fists are exclusive to SOF and are a weapon, you just said there would be no gear exclusive to SOF?"
MMG: "This is the first stage in my victory over Mod Rathe who wanted to make sure no combat gear got on SoF. I'll do it bit by bit so you don't notice too much. In the end, I will have my way and everything will be pay to win, just like looking good is pay to win already! Mwahahahaha!"
Stacey Tyner – Twitter
"Many players are concerned about the lore being ruined by out of place emotes and animations."
MMG: "It is, and I don't care!"
Andrea Gilman – Facebook
"Roughly when can we expect to start seeing more updates & content for the loyalty programme? And I'm interested to see if you guys actually do somehow tie in the Loyalty Programme with Solomon's Store & Rune Coins. It'd be nice to be able to get some of Solomon's store stuff just by being a member for a decent period of time."
MMG: "They will overlap soon, so you can even pay cash for auras, which are undoubtedly the best of their type in the game, because they are the only items of their type in the game!"

The livestream itself was as bad if not worse, with the highlight being avoiding the question of why can't lamps be removed, by MMG going "Oooh look behind you Runescape 3!!!!!"
MMG remains a liar, and I don't believe a single one of his promises.

While it may appear that there is a huge amount of gold is entering the economy, the Squeal of Fortune rewards have been carefully considered and balanced to make sure that the amount of money being added into the economy is not having a detrimental long term effect on the game. We have a team of people who are responsible for ensuring that this is and will never be the case."

Ok, now this is what gets me.
Your main argument for this, is saying its ok because you say so. Your measurement of what is ok is on a scale which you have created yourself. How can we as players be sure that this scale is even something we agree with? Just because you may consider it ok, does not mean it is something your player base will be ok with.
This is clear with the existence of the buyable SOF spins, many players are not ok with the effect it is having, but you do not see that and are saying it is working as expected! Maybe it does not cause prices to crash, but the point is players, however minimal in numbers, are getting free in-game money from buying spins with real life cash.
Added onto that is buyable exp, which you have not addressed. Again so what if it is going as expected, maybe it's going too far for others. One person being able to buy their exp is too many in my opinion; you should not be able to buy your way through the game. Or is the only problem you have with bots, is that you aren't getting anything from it?

I would also like to re-post a question I haven't seen answered yet (if it has been, please direct me where I can see the response).
-----------
1. Selling of exp boosting items and items
In the recent post by MMG he said they were never going to directly sell EXP or gold, but this skirts around the issue. Will gold or exp ever be sold through indirect methods, similar to perhaps a more extreme form of SOF? Will you be selling stated items or exp large boosters for example?

EDIT: From the OP.
"To reiterate, we will not add any items in the Squeal of Fortune which provide a superior advantage to items which are available through game play."
Define superior advantage? Again this goes by your own method of measurement, are you saying that just so long as it isn't the*best* items in game, it may be sold?
