@Shirin Lach (Hope it's spelt right)
I make RSMV's and copyrighted music is a pain in the backside at times. If you go onto the band's official website, and check which record company they are with this might help.
If they are associated with WMG (Warner Music Group) then you should steer clear of using their music. Bands like Disturbed, Faith No More, Fall out boy, Linkin Park, (Theres hundreds of bands who are associated with WMG.
Don't be put off if you can't have the audio you wanted running alongside your video. Try and find some other music, this might fit the video better too! There was a big fiasco on youtube once, where Youtube were removing all video's with WMG 's music in. This caused uproar, and at the time it seemed as if you couldn't upload any thing onto youtube, with out getting it removed. Plenty of Video maker's gave up, which was a real shame, because many of these were extremely talented.
Don't be discouraged if your music can't be used due to copyright :)

As a note.
The Orb of Oculus has been updated to add in the ability to Chat while using it.
Hope that helps all you budding Machinimators.

Take care,

Hi there I'm not sure where I should be posting this, but Mod Fnord told me to have a look in this area. Here is my original post:
Dear Jagex,
I was wondering if you could either make this sticky please or make your own sticky thread regarding this issue. It has become apparent that many players do not know the full rules on making runescape videos, especially as you have been encouraging us to create more runescape videos with competitions such as the machinima contest.

1. What information is required in the details to satisfy the runescape copyright?
2. Is Revenue Sharing acceptable on runescape videos, as youtube asks you to agree that the video is 100% yours etc..
3. Any other specific rules you wish to state, as I am not very familiar with creating videos myself.

Hi Cookie, as far as I'm aware Jagex don't ask much of us when it comes to making videos, which could be why they haven't got a whole sticky dedicated to video rules. :)
1. What information is required in the details to satisfy the runescape copyright?
There's no harm in putting a link to the RuneScape website, but nothing is really required. They haven't included this is the RuneScape Machinima competition rules, so I doubt it applies else where.
2. Is Revenue Sharing acceptable on runescape videos, as youtube asks you to agree that the video is 100% yours etc..
You can become a YouTube partner, aslong as you're not a company reaping profits from making RuneScape videos. So if video making is your hobby, there's no issue with becoming a partner and gaining money from that.
3. Any other specific rules you wish to state, as I am not very familiar with creating videos myself.
The only rules they wish that you follow are the RuneScape ones. For example videos of hacking, abuse etc. are likely to be taken down.
Hope that helps,

Awesome thank you Sunny. I was just posting that, as I think it would help a lot of other players if it was clear what you can and can't put in videos, as most players add something about how they don't own runescape in their description.
Thanks for your help though.

Choosing your Item to Advertise.
(Hope this clears up some questions)
You CAN advertise any item in Runescape
You CANNOT advertise the whole game.
You CAN advertise an item but it's up to you how you do it.
For example, You could advertise a Bandos godsword (Cause its in the game) but you could advertise it for being a make shift flying machine. This would be a legitimate advert as the Godsword is in the game.
You could even advertise a shop, I've seen a few excellent videos of advertising places and cities on Runescape.
DO NOT MAKE A MONSTER OR ITEM OR SHOP OR ANYTHING THAT IS NOT IN THE GAME UP, AND MAKE AN ADVERTISEMENT OF IT. YOUR HARD WORK WILL NOT BE ACKNOWLEDGED.
Planning
The best work is planned out first. In exams, you are always encourages to plan your work out first, so you can obtain the best marks. The same is with Videos. If you plan a script, or how you are going to advertise your work, It will always come out better than a unprepared piece of 'rushed work'
Getting Actors/Voices
For some people this may be extremely easy. If you have willing friends that are happy to help you, this would be the easiest way of doing this. If you already have popular video's a good way of getting actors would be posting another video, 'Inviting' people to help you if they like, or maybe for voice actors holding auditions to find your own. If you have no-one, you could always advertise on this thread to try and get actors. There is always some kind souls on here that will help you.

How to Render a Video on Sony Vegas:
Rendering a video is the process of transforming your video into a video that will be compatible to upload onto youtube.
1 - Highlight the whole part of the video you want. For this case (The Machinima contest) the 30 second video.
2 - Go to File
3 - Go to Render As
4 - Name the clip what you want to (e.g. Runescape Machinima Entry 2010)
5 - Select where you want to save the Rendered clip.
6 - Select from the save as type dropdown arrow, Windows Media Video V11 (Don't worry if you don't have Version 11 of Windows Media Player, Choose Windows Media Video V* *representing the number version you have)
7 - If you want to have your video uploaded in HD, Find the Template you want. (You used to have to make your own templates, I'm not sure if this option is only available on Sony vegas 9)
8 - Click Save
9 - Your video will now be saving in the correct format for uploading onto youtube
10 - Log onto youtube, Upload the video, And Good Luck!!

Hey I have an idea for what to advertise, but I'm not sure if It entirely fits into the rules (bit borderline). Of course I don't want to post it on here incase I can use it, So is there a place where I could ask a > J < mod about it?
Thanks,
Yew Jack

@Yew Jack
If you don't give us a whole lot of information we can't really help you. I'm not aware of any place you could ask a J Mod for an answer and guarantee a response, so I'll just tell you that the rule seems to be that if it's an item that exists in RuneScape and not anything you're inventing, then it's OK. If you lie about the properties of the item (for giggles?) that will not disqualify you.
