I think you've hit a gray area. As long as you're advertising something that exists in RuneScape, you can lie about it's properties. A special kind of kebab, though, is something I myself would wonder about.

Fraps is meant to film full screen, and then later be cropped to the editor's desires.
Fraps uses a lot of RAM because it records the files completely uncompressed. Try recording on lower detail if you need to and closing more programs. You can also use your system's Task Manager to set Fraps and the browser you play RuneScape in to "High Priority"...I personally don't like the program.
Yes, you can advertise a location.

Hello
Sony vegas is the best all-round video editor. It offer's a 30day free trial of Vegas Pro 9. This can be downloaded off the sony vegas official site.
Windows Movie Maker is the simplest, but can still make decent videos. As a beginner, this is a good place to start if you have never attempted to make a video in your life.
Adobe After Effects CS4 is by far the hardest one to use. Your pro video maker's are able to use this as easily as spreading butter.
If i was you, I'd go for Vegas mate.
:) Hope this was helpful.

I agree with RetiredRS. Sony Vegas is by far the best video editor. I can't say that 9.0 is the best, I believe 8.0 or 7.0 is better than 9.0, because you can do something called "cropping" which is cutting out images and using having a transparent background, it's more annoying than greenscreening, but sometimes you just can't greenscreen and cropping is your best bet.

@DJ Caveman
I currently use Vegas Pro 9 and it does include cropping as do the previous versions.

Your entry "Sparkle Barrage" will not be disqualified since you can actually do that in-game. Making up a new name / type of magic for something that already exists in RuneScape is fine.

So, here's a question: is there anything I can do to include music without getting explicit permission from the owner of the copyright? It seems like that's simply too much to go through for a simple machinima video.
