--During this time you can simply step out of that area, but keep in mind that the effects of light spells are not going to end after a brief period of time. If you’re not in a long fight, you should consider that area to be off limits, as it will be to you and your opponent.
Magic: Darkness Magic: Introduction and Information
Dark spells are also seen in events regarding the elves, and in other places in Gielenor. Obviously the opposite to Light magic, many of those who use this are often enemies of those who use Light spells. Elves that use this are often the ones who have gone away from Seren and changed to another religion entirely, namely the one that caused many of the elves to spark a civil war, as they once ruled, in an era before the god wars, an area that crossed the majority of Gielenor. Other more wicked creatures use this as well, and the similarities between Darkness spells and Light spells are a little creepy.
Darkness spells have a function that is the direct opposite of Light spells: the gradual darkening and freezing of whatever they hit. While holding the same speed as a light spell, it also demands the same amount of time to take its effect, meaning that your opponent would be *hit” after they were surrounded by darkness, not *hit” as the darkness surrounded them. Unlike the suggested interpretation of shadow, Darkness spells gradually make things colder. The spell also makes whatever is in the area of its effect darker, meaning that if you want to clear out a dark alley, just cast the spell and wait a few minutes. The problem of muggers is now gone, unless they have some exceptional item or ability.
For countering, you could cast a Light spell in response. But keep in mind that if you were to cast a Light spell, the spell with more volume and power would be the one to win. A more powerful Darkness spell will be reduced by a weaker Light spell, but it will keep on coming.--
