--They use curse spells that specialize in reducing an enemy’s defense, such as Weaken. When you fire one of these spells, wood will rot to a small degree and metal will become more brittle upon contact with the spell. Leather becomes more susceptible to tearing, and so on. The armor they’re wearing becomes less effective for defensive purposes.

When defending against one of these spells, it’s advised that you don’t let it hit your shield (if you have one) or any sort of armor. Contact with this sort of spell will mean that what it hit will be made weaker, and once this happens, the magician’s warrior pal might decide to give a lethal beating. Also, multiple hits would leave your armor weak enough to broken by just about anything, such as a wind spell. As it is with most spells, simply choose to not let it hit you.

Magic: Curse Magic: Offensive Reduction Spells
Magicians are quite aware that an attacker will need to have the effectiveness of their weapon reduced, and these spells provide a remedy for this. Many of these spells will partially dull the cutting edge of a weapon, or partially blunt the stabbing edge, while others can actually render excess muscle tissue temporarily useless, leaving them weaker and less likely to be able to smash you to the ground or beat you down.
Obviously, as the defender you’ll want to avoid this sort of curse as well. The good news is, your shield will help against the curse spells that will affect your weapons, and all you need to do for those is simply not let it hit your weapons either. For the ones that reduce your physical strength, just don’t let them hit you and you’ll be fine. Why do you not let them hit you? Well, leg muscles partially affect your speed, so you might be slower. If you’re slower, the magician can just hit you again with another spell.
Magic: Curse Magic: Constriction Spells
Bind, Snare and Entangle are popular spells in-game, and they are in roleplay magic as well.--

--These can be used to literally stop an incoming warrior in their tracks, trap the person who cowers behind a tower shield, keep someone from running away, etc. It’s safe to say that after you land one of these spells, you can finish the job without any problems after one of these lands. The spell works by stopping the movement of the person through what the books by *.*. Church describe as the victim feeling like they’re being held in place by invisible ropes. Are they being held in place by actual, invisible ropes? No, but that’s the sensation. Hitting an opponent in midair means they’ll still come down though, so if the person you’re attacking is jumping at you, release the spell and move.

As the person defending against this, don’t bother using your shield to try and negate the spell. The shield is still being held by you, and that means you’d still be affected. Instead, trying using a ranged weapon to hit the spell, such as a throwing knife or such, to make it stop before it hits you. When you are hit by one of these, keep in mind that your ribcage probably won’t be able to allow your lungs to expand, resulting in restricted breathing (although you can still breathe, it’s just harder as your lungs can’t expand to take in as much air.) A clever magician will release the spell at you just as you try to attack them, meaning you’ll be in a nice, aggressive-looking battle stance before the magician simply backs away, charges another spell, and kills you.

Magic: Telekinesis: Introduction and Information
If you’ve been watching a whole lot of Star Wars, there’s a good chance you’ll be attracted to the Telekinesis spells. Telekinesis involves moving things with your mind, and thanks to two very simple spells, a variety of telekinetic feats can be done. Just like elemental magic or teleportation magic, you could learn these from a nearby magician or the Wizard’s Tower.--

--Now all you need is a blue, green or red colored sword and run around trying to block and deflect arrows and crossbow bolts.
Magic: Telekinesis: Telekinetic Push
The primary spell in the telekinesis branch for sending things away from you is Telekinetic push. This can be useful for sending a charging warrior away from you, or if you feel like being a real jerk, sending the likes of an earth spell back towards the magician who released the spell towards you and watch them effectively smash their own body with their own spell. You could push someone off a cliff, even. The spell works by inversing the gravitational pull you and the object the spell hit and then intensifying the inverted pull, meaning that a newer sort of “gravity” would then exert itself on them, sending them away from you. The longer the spell is charger, the greater the mass of an object it can affect. A briefly charged telekinetic push won’t move an oncoming boulder, but one that had been charged longer would. (The inverted pull of gravity is just a possible explanation to put your curious mind at rest. Telekinetic Push probably works differently.)
If you’re defending against this and get hit, the spell will either stop moving you at a certain distance or you’ll hit something. To avoid a painful collision, try using your shield to help you brace for impact. Being telekinetically pushed into a large oak tree is obviously going to hurt, so you’ll want to reduce how much it’s going to hurt you. Another thing you could do if they hit something like an armor piece is remove the armor piece, although keep in mind that it’s moving you during the process. If you did*’t get hit, attack the magician before they can send another spell at you.
Magic: Telekinesis: Telekinetic Pull (Telegrab)
Just as a telekinesis magician can push things away, they can bring things to them. Is a girl at a dance not noticing you who you want to dance with? This spell solves such a problem.--

--(Girls can use this to grab a guy as well, obviously.) You simply increase the pull of gravity between you and the object hit by the spell so that what the spell hit comes to you. Want to pull that warrior away from your friend, or grab the money before the other people do? Telekinetic Pull does that very well. A more bloodthirsty Telekinesis magician would cast this on part of an opponent, and as they were drawn towards him run them through with a spear.

While defending against this, keep in mind the part being pulled on would be the part of you that was hit. So let it hit your shield, and then remove yourself from your shield. If you’re unable to remove what was hit, then try and use this to bring yourself to your opponent. If they prepare a melee weapon to cut you with, raise your shield and prepare to use your weapon after collision. (Oh, and if you are at a dance and someone pulls you toward them for a dance, they’re either desperate to get your attention or have the makings of a clever person. It’d be your call.)
Magic: Enchantment: Introduction and Information
Magicians have other hobbies besides summoning things and sending spells in your general direction. They also prove themselves useful in the ability to improve your weapons through enchantments. The kinds of enchantments roleplayers have implemented are incredibly diverse and range from complex to simple, so not all of the possible enchantments will be included in this. You can easily learn these at places like the Wizard’s Tower, and once you become a more proficient enchanter, you could even figure out some enchantments yourself.
Magic: Enchantment: Elemental Enchantment
Some players enjoy the idea of a sword that doubles its weight when it strikes, or can be covered in flames. These enchantments are centered around elemental magic, and honestly aren’t that hard to achieve if the weapon is made with the right material.--

--(Normal metal obviously won’t conduct this very well.) How? Well, the elemental obelisks are a good place to start. The Air Obelisk could be used to help enchant something to make it more capable of resisting wind friction and therefore faster, the Earth Obelisk making something increase its impact upon striking something, etc. Just as one could use the obelisks to enchant that glass orb into the orb for an elemental staff, you could enchant something to have some of the properties of that element.
If you’re facing any sword that has an elemental enchantment, first consider how much normal metal you’re wearing. Then consider how much animal hides (dead animal hides, like snakeskin, dragonhide or leather are examples of magic-resistant armor) you have on you. This will determine the effectiveness of the enchantment greatly, as metal conducts magic but dead animal hides (with Suqah hides being an example of an exception) are non-conductive of magic. Fabrics and clothes made from plants appear to be beneficial to mages, boosting the effectiveness of their spells while being resistant to hostile spells.
Magic: Enchantment: Gemstone Enchantment
Probably one of the simpler ways for an enchanter to train their skill, gemstones are great at maintaining enchantments. Some of the popular enchantments are the ones that boost strength or magic. Some enchantments will even grant the ability to teleport to various places. Some of the primary enchantments will be listed, as they prove to be exceptionally helpful or are popular items.
-Strength Ruby: This is a ruby enchanted to increase the physical strength of the one who wears it. Some people will place this in the hilt of their sword, and use it to increase the might behind their strokes.
-Magic Sapphire: A sapphire enchanted to boost the magical might of the person who wields it.--

--This is often engraved in custom staves or metal objects so the wizard won’t harm themselves through their own magic, and boost what spells they do cast.
-Sapphire Lightning Shards: This enchantment normally is used for giving sapphire-tipped bolts more of a shock, but when the fragments are engraved into a sword for example, they can give the blade a more shocking cut.
-Emerald Venom Shards: This enchantment is normally used for giving emerald-tipped bolts a more poisonous result, although with all of them embedded into a weapon, they can provide the enchantment to that weapon when a cut is made.
-Ruby Blood Shards: Another enchantment stolen from the bolt-tip system, this is very useful for making wounds count. Similar to the roleplay effect of the wound having increased bleeding, these ruby fragments will provide the same enchantment, meaning that an opponent will bleed out in up to half as much time in some cases.
Plenty of other enchantments exist. Other gemstones have enchantments for bolt tips that can be utilized when all of the gemstone fragments are engraved into something. Necklaces and other in-game jewelry can hint at other possible enchantments with the materials available. Use your intellect and imagination to figure out some other ideas, and remember, most enchantments will exist outside of gemstones.

Magic: Alchemy: Introduction and Information
Magicians dream of turning common things into gold. Gold, which has a very nice price, is more than enough to pay for buying runes and so on, meaning they can live happily ever after. The problem is, this involves actually changing the atomic structure to match that of gold, something that the majority of magicians lack the ability to do. In fact, most magicians don’t even have a clue how to do this, and by the time they have studied enough to learn this, they’ve lived through most of their life.--

--A necromancer might be able to live long enough to reap the benefits properly, but otherwise this is a very rare art, read about through old tomes and discussed by old wizards.
When you do perform alchemy, you won’t be telling everyone around. Rather, you’d more likely than not do it secretly. First, if the whole countryside knew you could perform alchemy, you wouldn’t get a moment’s respite. More likely than not, you’d just be kidnapped by bandits as well. (On a randomly crueler note, you could capture someone, open up their stomach, and try to alchemize their internal organs.) To give an example of just how alluring the secrets of alchemy are, in the Quest “What Lies Below” Surok Magis uses the claims of having figured out how to alchemize anything to trick the adventurer into preparing a wand for the use of chaos magic…
Magic: Chaos Magic: Introduction and Information
…and speaking of chaos magic, that’s the next topic. The Dagon’hai aren’t a bunch of worthless, exiled Zamorakian wizards who are wimps in hiding. They actually keep control over a very, very secret sort of magic. Known as Chaos magic, this is forgotten by and unknown to many roleplayers, so the Dagon’hai have concealed knowledge of Out-of-Character’ly as well. (For a group of NPC’s, that’s darned impressive.) The only way you’d know about this sort of magic would be if you were one of the head members of the Dagon’hai. Not a friend of one of the head members, but one of the head members. Even when you actually used this magic, you’d probably make sure a very small amount of people were nearby, and most certainly none who could figure out what you were doing.
Magic: Chaos Magic: Mind Control
The only known property of Chaos Magic is total mind control. Surok Magis reportedly used it to force King Roald to briefly do his bidding, and the duration of the effect is unknown, although it does appear to end after sometime.--

--(Or Surok Magis had no use for King Roald afterward and released him from the spell. Or did he?) In order to cast this spell, you need a specially made iron wand. Then, with fifteen Chaos runes, you need to head to the Chaos Altar, and then imbue the wand with the runes at the Chaos Altar. Having more than one wand at a time on your person would be considered to be severely overpowered, as a spell that guarantees mind-control of this magnitude is powerful enough. The spell, upon hitting the target, will cause them to be completely under the caster’s control. This is the way to get out of a variety of hard situations, automatically win a duel, etc. The wand needs to be recharged through the same procedure after the spell is cast, so it’s single-use.
If you’re defending against this, simply don’t let it hit you. If your shield isn’t metal, then blocking it with that should be fine since metal is what conducts magic, not wood, dragonhide, etc. If the spell does hit you, then forget it. You’re then under the caster’s control, subject to their commands. There’s no exact guess on what they might do to you, although it could be as simple as making you kill yourself.
Magic: Gnome Magic: Introduction and Information
As shown to a large extent in the Quest “Monkey Madness”, the gnomes are incredible at stealth, to the point they have used their skill, magic, enchantments and devices to be able to infiltrate one of the most well-guarded islands in Gielenor and spy on renegade gnomes plotting a trap at the same time. Quite impressive, and if your character is a gnome or has lived among them for quite some time, you can probably pick up some of their magical spells. However, gnome magic involves items as well, which is something you had best not forget. Gnomes have been shown to have powerful illusory devices, and even items that, with the focus of another magician, effectively alter someone’s appearance, shape and voice.--

--Amazingly enough, this branch of magic seems to be largely ignored by roleplayers, probably since many roleplayers don’t have the levels or ability to complete “Monkey Madness” and as a result, don’t realize the gnome magic involved. Also, many of those who do realize this and have done the quest simply have interests elsewhere for their characters. Just hope that the role(CoD)players don’t realize this, otherwise we’ll be groaning about more than (machine)repeater (guns)crossbows with (silencers)scopes.

Magic: Gnome Magic: Illusory Magic
As discovered by the adventurer, the gnomes have a device for creating illusions. Too powerful for the lone magician and wizard, this magic demands to be sourced from an item, and then used in an area by those with the appropriate devices. If you’re going to use this, be sure to involve other characters besides your own. Using this, you could keep yourself hidden very well, making this a great defense during a siege when the invading army has broken through. This would be rather effective if it was going to be used in castles and so on, but you simply don’t find castles using them or people trying to get gnome is equipment.
Magic: Gnome Magic: Transfiguration Magic
No, this isn’t from Harry Potter but yes, this was the word used to describe it. In “Monkey Madness” the adventurer is given a greegree and an amulet for impersonating a monkey (he/she actually makes most of them on their own) and actually transforms into a monkey. For the items for imitating the selected person or race to even work, you also need someone agreeing to power them as well, meaning that once more you’ll need a partner for these. In summary, gnome magic demands that your character is either in an area with the device already there or having a partner, which is why you don’t see individual freelancers being able to use this most of the time unless they’ve got a friend on.--

--You will need a relic of whatever race you’re trying to imitate as well, which will become a vital part of the set that will be used.
One thing that should be noted is that you’ll look like the person or creature that you used the body of. If multiple people saw that person die, then you’ll be in trouble when the person everyone saw die comes walking around. But for imitating something more common like a goblin and so on, it shouldn’t be too hard, as goblins aren’t the brightest. You also could use this to imitate a more brutal creature like a giant, and scare enemies.
Magic: Light Magic: Introduction and Information
Light spells, often seen as being used by elves who follow Seren, have been seen using spells that appear to be light. By drawing upon Seren’s power or through other arcane methods, one can actually cast what is the fastest kind of magic possible. The easiest way to know this sort of magic would be if you were an elf of a select group of clans, otherwise apart from that it will be rather difficult to find out about and learn.
Light spells, as jaw-dropping as it may seem, do move at the speed of light. Autohit? Actually, no. Besides making an area unusually bright, it won’t actually do anything for the first few seconds. Then, the area affected by the light begins to become warmer and brighter, proceeding to increasingly blind and burn an opponent who stays in the selected area for too long. When casting, be sure to cast this away from reflective surfaces, and remember that the effects will hurt you as well if you step inside of the area affected by the spell.

For defense against this sort of attack, something extremely reflective, such as silver or a mirror, will redirect a majority of the light that hits the surface back towards the caster. Otherwise, you have a small amount of time, generally a few seconds, before whatever is in the area of the spell begins to be affected.--
