Introduction
]‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡

The Myreque are dead... or so the vampyres would have you think. The brave souls that fought against the tyrrany of House Drakan may have all but perished, but there are still a ragged few that hold tightly to the sickle.

With Lowerniel Drakan assassinated by the World Guardian, his sister Vanescula has renewed Morytania's ambitions to break the Salve and conquer the fair lands of Misthalin in an attempt to relieve Morytania's crippling blood shortage.

With the vampyric army gathering for their march west, it is up to those continuing the Myreque's mission to stave off the Drakan horde as long as possible and buy Misthalin enough time to mount a proper defense.

This roleplay takes place in a the 5th Age and does not recognize public roleplay lore. Instead, it uses a custom expanded universe referred to as the Starkverse.

The Setting
]‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡

The map is based on an old, official map used for mouse pads and filled in with custom locations to flesh it out. Each hexagon is roughly one day's travel by road, or one and half day's travel in Morytania.

This series of roleplays will not be taking place in the public domain. Instead it will be taking place in an alternate timeline during the final months of the 5th Age. There will be no Player-Owned-Kingdom nor Vampyre Coven lore recognized by default. Instead, there is one coherent expanded universe referred to as the Starkverse used to flesh-out Jagex's lore. Unless otherwise stated, all factors are as Jagex set them. The following links are a primer for the Starkverse. They are an optional read, but can give you a good feel on how a character would fit in and act in the world.

The Belligerents - Morytania and Misthalin

Other Kingdoms - Al Kharid, Asgarnia, Eastern Lands

Other Kingdoms - Feldip Hills, Freminnik Providences, Kandarin, Karamja

Other Kingdoms - Keldagrim, Tirannwn, Tree Gnome Stronghold/Village, Wilderness

Religion - Armadyl, Bandos, Guthix, Saradomin, Seren

Religion - Zamorak, Zaros

Races - Aviansie, Dwarves, Elves

Races - Gnomes, Humans, Icyene

Races - Sea orphans, Seasingers, Vampyres

Races- Werewolves

Burgh de Rott

The Myreque, or what's left of them, are currently held up in the ghost-town of Burgh de Rott. Formerly the last remaining free settlement in Morytania, nearly all its citizens have been spirited away by the vampyres in the nights leading up to Drakan's assassination.

The Myreque stalk its empty streets, lending what aid they can to the few refugees that still call the dilapidated settlement home. They are in charge of gathering food and water, as well as patrolling the gates.

Missions and Tasks

The bulk of a recruit's time will be spent completing missions across Morytania. These are assigned by Calsidiu himself, and are generally critically important to complete in a timely manner.

However, there are smaller tasks assigned by Calsidiu when he is in town. These can range from fetching firewood to fishing for extra food to thinning the numbers of dangerous creatures in the area.

Downtime

What little downtime there is usually is spent contemplating the hunger pangs that wrack most members of the Myreque. Though, there are a few other odds and ends to distract from the constant discomfort. Several incomplete boardgames and card sets are available, as well as a healthy round of throw the rock at the snail. Rarely, one can find a stash of Calsidiu's secret liquor and truly escape the vexation of Morytania.

Valuable Skills: (Note that your character does not have the same knowledge of the game that you have. A carpenter would likely have no clue what an abyssal demon is, and likewise a slayer would have little knowledge of dovetail joints. Generally, the less specialized someone's skills are, the less adept they are at them.)

In-Character Rules
]‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡‡

Keep to the Low-Powered Theme

The Myreque's fight is supposed to be one of insurmountable odds with terrible prices to pay for every small victory. As such, any particularly powerful characters will not be allowed to take part. Power can mean combat prowess or unreasonable access to resources. A noble scion with a merchant ship at his beck and call is just as unacceptable as a legendary warlord with a dragon longsword. The Myreque's suicidal task tends to attract low-grade adventurers with nowhere else to go - or fanatical zealots eager to prove themselves to their god.

Keep Your Character Believable

Nobody will bat an eyelash at Greld Stonebrow, dwarven warrior, performing some fine stonework in his spare time. However, if Greld suddenly started enchanting gear with ancient, forgotten magicks that'd raise a few eyebrows. It is important to keep your character within their bounds to allow others to shine in their areas of expertise.

This also applies to a character's race. If an Icyene were to waltz into Morytania, the target over their head would be visible from the moon. The likelihood of powerful races coming to the aid of the Myreque are slim, and the chances of them being trusted are practically none.
The lesser races, like humans, gnomes, and dwarves, are much more likely to be involved in the fight.

Justify Your Powers

It is boring to just be born with an innate talent. Most adventurers have their powers and skills through years of blood, sweat, and tears. It is even more rewarding to earn your powers across plotlines and missions, growing and adapting in the face of danger.

Out-of-Character Rules

Jagex's Offcial Rules Apply.

This is self-explanatory. These are the non-negotiable rules that everyone must abide by.

Roleplay is For Fun, Treat it as Such.

Getting upset over in-character happenings is trivial. While we are all subject to this at one point or another, causing drama over it is pointless. It is far better to strike a happy-medium than to argue until someone walks away angry.

Be Creative, but Mind the Tone.

Myreque roleplay is supposed to be a gritty, uphill battle with undertones of hopelessness and despair. As such, we will not accept any character that is overpowered or too-well connected. The Myreque is also a predominantly xenophobic, human-centric group. Only gnomes, dwarves, and the occasional elf are free of discretion when applying.

Act Like A Reasonable, Mature Person.

This is an extension of the two sections above. Use common sense, be kind and courteous, and do not antagonize anyone. If someone relentlessly bugs you, make use of the ignore feature and carry on. Behaving like a rational adult is greatly appreciated by not only me, but the vast majority of the world.

~¤~

Following these rules will not be hard for most of you, and I appreciate all those who abide by them. However, if you disregard these rules you may be asked to not participate in any further Myreque roleplay.
