Plot event: Restitution

Date: TBC, will consult with you all individually

My children,

I trust these letters find you well after your midnight rendezvous with the family's master-turned-servant. I understand His Ladyship is beside itself with fury over the new arrangement.

I write to you baring news, and a task. The battle that devastated Asgarnia and Misthalin, fought between Bandos and Armadyl earlier this very year, claimed many casualties from among the loyal workforce of the de Fiore, from farmhands and accountants to guards and alchemists. As tragic as any of these was the loss of the family's Asgarnian vineyard, a mainstay of our wine cultivation for over forty years, destroyed when two horns of the quarrelling armies clashed among its furrows. Though a sapling was saved, the land was lost and has been turned to grazing for the Asgarn army's packhorses.

It is lost, and with it, the vats and barrels of ageing wine undergoing fermentation, a process lasting years and a trade secret of the de Fiore family.

Or so I thought.

It has come to my attention that each army made off with at least some of our fermenting barrels. The skirmish was indecisive, and the bulk of the forces on both sides withdrew largely intact. Someone has our wine, and in one case at least, I know whom.

I am sending you to speak with the Armadylean Commander-in-Chief, Asgarnian Theatre: Wingmaster Hal*ron. As a champion of justice, he should be receptive to our petitions towards the restitution of our rightful property. It is in this endeavour that our family's greatest asset - the silver tongue - will shine brightest. And should he refuse, there is always our new helper.

I will remain behind in Seerhaven to oversee the business and continue efforts to track down the Bandosian acquisition, should it still exist. That, I fear, will be an altogether different beast.

I've always loved it when a business rp starts up, it's always been something I've found lacking in the community.

As with all things, it's a question of supply and demand. In a world of rofl-get the demand simply isn't there for legitimate ways to acquire items, especially novelties like this company specialises in.

There have been a number of business roleplays in the past, some good, some bad. Did you know Brock Avery or Avery Enterprises at all? (You may even be Brock for all I know - I'm bad at keeping up with names). He was able to run a successful roleplay business because he'd sell literally anything to literally anyone - rune gear to mercenaries, multicannons to Mahjarrat, you name it. People would buy from him because they wanted to legitimise their rofl-gear, and because doing so was as easy as posting an OOC form on a thread and waiting a few days for the item to be OOC delivered.

Whatever my criticisms of Brock I still worked for him as two different characters, because other areas of the business did lend themselves to fun RPs and at the end of the day, it was successful. With this, I'm aiming to retain proper legitimacy both in the items being sold and the selling process. Basically, filling in the gaps of previous business roleplays.

It might not work. This idea is an experiment and to say that business has been "a bit thin" thus far would be akin to saying the city of Carthage was left in "a bit of a state" when the Romans left. But through in-family plot events we're going to be expanding the product range (since we can't seem to make it happen through public sales) and we'll be hitting overseas markets like a ****ing train once we've moved into Catherby.

You're absolutely right; business roleplays are lacking. But I'm hoping we can change that.

I've always been a fan of highly immersive roleplay, so just getting items of high wealth without any real basis for having them has never been my style, which is why i like this roleplay so much, it's not claiming to have everything, but it does however have products people want, i was around for Brock and his company but again it didn't really capture my attention, i like a business to start off with a limited supply of products, the climb is something I've always personally enjoyed doing and watching.

I guess what i'm trying to say is good luck with this, and i might even have to arrange to buy something for one of my characters.
Noice.

Thank you for the kind words; wing me a PM anytime or stop by the thread if we can help with anything.

Apologies for my absence and lack of an update. Consequence of living in the sticks and being poor. Long story short, my laptop fan has died like it's Good Friday and I managed to lose our one working card at Tesco like an idiot. With any luck I'll be able to get a replacement installed next week.

In the mean time, remember to floss.
