The Royal Family of Asgarnia are relatives of the Queen. All who carry the Grey, Salvian or Jacobin names also carry the title "Prince(ss) of Asgarnia," due to relations to the Grey Family.

The Grey Family draws its ancestry to Raddalin, and through this claims legitimacy to the throne. The first Grey, or Salvarian monarch was Varis the First of Burthorpe. With the Aren-Grey, or Agrevian Empire of St. Edward, the Greys became even more wealthy than they were. Digging their roots in deep enough to survive the fall of the Empire, the Grey family has ruled Asgarnia for many generations.

The Queen, Jane Grey I is the focal point of the throne, and thus a key figure in the Royal Family.

The Queen's Mother was Efaritay Grey and Father was Emrys Renderra-Grey.
The Queen has a few siblings. Princes Safalaan and Ivandis Grey and Princess Victoria Grey.

The Current Lord Grey is Jakob Grey.

Royal Household Guards to the Grey Family, the Greycloaks serve the family alone in the sole cause of protecting the family. Threats to the family are investigated by the Greycloaks, meaning they work alongside the White Knights, Falador Guard, and foreign rulers who also carry the Grey name. The Greycloaks as a whole have no religious affiliation but do demand loyalty to the Greys.

Palaces and Estates

House Grey has many estates and palaces across Asgarnia they lay claim to, with the following being some of the most notable the Crown has, or lays claim to.

The White Castle of Falador - The Stronghold of the White Knights of Saradomin, it also houses the Queen of Asgarnia. It was originally conceived by King Raddalin the Uniter, but following destruction by the Dae was rebuilt taller by the Grey Monarchs.

The Grand Ballroom of Falador - A place for parties, balls, and soirees, the Ballroom is the castle used by the Grey family to greet guests. It is also a place for the family to take a step away from throne room politics. The Grand hall is rentable, to help support the upkeep of the palace for various events.

The Black Knight's Fortress of Ice Mountain - The fort gifted to the Kinshra by Raddalin, its place outside the city enforces their offensive capability. The fortress is nigh impregnable and resistant to sieges and proper assault.

Burthorpe Castle - The Seat of Crown Prince Anlaf in years past, Burthorpe houses a military bastion. Today, it is held by Thalia Renderra.

The Grey Family has long had a tradition of passing along various royal regalia, or badges of office, from Monarch to Monarch. The current Queen is no exception!

The Bronze Crown of Saint Edward - This crown is the one worn by Saint Edward the Vyrebane, the Crusader King of Agrevia

The Imperial Laurel of Varis the Old Magnificent - Gold crown made in the shape of Laurels by Varis the Third, it is plain and humble, made in a time of warfare.

The Royal Sword, Lightfire - Sil*thril blade wielded by King James the First of Asgarnia. Viewed to be more vital than the crown to office, it burns hot to the touch to those not meant to wield it.

The Royal Sword, Zephyr - Wielded by Varis the Third, this ornate whitesteel sword has the motto "Ne Tentes aut Perfice" engraved in the side.

Grey Cloak of Varis the Great - A Grey Cloak for the Grey Family, this cloak has symbolic importance as the Cloak of Varis the Great, the First of the Salvarian (Grey) Monarchs.

Signet Ring of Salvar - The ring and seal of Salvar, progenitor of the Grey family.

Sceptre of the Ancestors - The Gold sceptre of Queen Varissa of Asgarnia, it is rumoured to have strong magical and holy power, giving the Monarch wisdom in their decisions.

The Banner of Raddalin - A Replica made by Ekaterina Renderra, scouring books for any reference to its appearance. The real banner was lost, but in the eyes of the public, this enchanted silver and cloth will do just fine. Raddalin, First King of Asgarnia, used the magic of this banner to unite all 22 tribes of Asgarnia under one leader. It's power was so magnificent, it made the Kinshra and White Knights get along.

Asgarnia is a varied landscape from the God Wars, and with it has a variance of religions. Under the Erysailite code, all peaceful practitioners of any religion are welcome and protected in Asgarnia.

The Queen Acknowledges the majority of citizens in Asgarnia are Saradominist, and that most of the morals of the country, are also Saradominist. As a Saradominist, the Queen holds to the fact Saradomin's protection extends to all who help keep peaceful Order within Asgarnia.

However, in addition to Saradominists, a large number of people in Asgarnia are Guthixian and Zamorakian. The Guthixians tend to be of Druidic persuasion, though there are Guthixian Dwarves and roving Gunnarsgrunn Fremennik as additional minorities. Zamorakians are all about Asgarnia, but usually tend to live in the Blackmarch, where the Black Barons of the Kinshra have long given them refuge and community.

Brassicans are supposedly not uncommon, especially in farming communities.

Finally, the less substantial minorities, the Non-Human Bandosians of Goblin Village and the Tower, warrior people who need to be pulled in line with the "peaceful" part of the Erysailite Code by the crown.

Last but not least, there are pockets of Armadyleans surrounding the Tower of Armadyl, the weapon used by the Phoenix God of Justice to slay Bandos. Armadyleans tend to be more neutral and pacifist in many situations, and even hold Noble titles, such as the Aerendyls.

Otherwise, Serenists travel in scouting Elven bands, and Godless hold a strong foot-hold in South Asgarnia.

The following are religious authorities of Asgarnia's Saradominist Church. Abolishing the position of Divine Rector and the Crown's authority as arbiter of faith, Saradomin has taken it upon himself to lead his flock by personally selecting the Bishop of Asgarnia.

The Bishop of Asgarnia acts as a link between Saradomin and his followers. They are responsible for the administration of Asgarnia's churches, abbeys, and monasteries while also spreading the good news.

The Asgarn Inquisition

Train to deal with threats to Asgarnia's national security, the Inquisition serves to enact the Queen's justice to those the Asgarn Guard or Vassal Armies are unable to. Chosen by the Crown the Grand Inquisitor heads the Inquisition, acting at Asgarnia's highest police chief and judge.

Those who have demonstrated to be capable and reliable investigators and combatants are invited to join the Inquisition from Asgarnia's military, guard force and vassal armies. For Commoners, becoming an Inquisitor is seen as an honour with their wages allowing them to have a more comfortable lifestyle compared to their Asgarn Guard comrades.

In times of War, it is rare to see the Inquisition to join the rest of Asgarnia's defence force in combat. Members of the Inquisition would be tasked with defending Asgarnia's prisons and other correctional facilities instead.
