I must beg to differ on the part where it says that crossbow bolts could only pierce plated armour from close range******completely/ depends on the size and variant of the crossbow. A German cranequin crossbow, of which has nearly 750 pounds of force, would probably tear through plate, would it not?

...plate armor was something that the wealthy could afford, a few of the middle class, and none of the lower class. Plate armor is custom-built for the wearer, and thus came with a very hefty price tag. Generally the higher knights, lords and nobles would have plate armor, with the subordinates having mixes of chainmail and leather.
Yes. This. ^.
As much as I like the idea of an army of Knights, it wasn't practical. I've been trying to get uniforms in Ardougne changed to something believable, like hard-leather. With Captains owning actual Plate Armor.
This is an awesome guide, but sadly, hasn't been implemented in roleplay. I tried rping plate mail, while using the guidelines of the guide, and got the usual ooc raging because people still want to believe Plate makes you a walking anchor.
I'll continue to roleplay plate the way it is meant to be roleplayed, but, to be honest, people are pretty much stuck in their ways and will refuse to change.
