Or, at least, that's what you guys need to do. I'd love to join in again, but I have life and friends who already know these lessons to be with.
Like, yeah, Runescape is a game traditionally for the mid-to-late teenage crowd, and the clique mentality is real - but if the idea doesn't scare you that one day, maybe your best mates will get tired and find something new and more stable to roleplay and screw around with, then maybe you need to start looking inside of yourself early, or if you're past the age of teenage shenanigans, you need to start looking inside of yourself, period.
Now, like I said, it's not my call to judge the two Ardougnes or Kandarins or leaderships, or whatever. But I legitimately don't think it matters if the community at large is still not at peace with the idea of living and let live, deciding things together and never letting them lapse without consensus, or even of having thick skin in the cases when people show their ugly sides.
Because even if you settle this little dispute, there will always be more, because that's how the community works - I can tell you this, I have been around annually and in the shadows, because I still have friends here, and I see these things, and have spoken out about them before.
Honestly, I'm at the point in my life where what people say doesn't outwardly phase me, but I have the presence of mind to calmly go: "Hey, dude, that was a dick move, that made me feel like crap." Laugh it off as weakness if you want, that's how shit gets done as easily as possible.
Instead of cocooning yourselves in further layers of IC pride and clan history, find a venue to talk and think about why you care so much about whether this person or that person leads this plot of land. Because I get having a personal stake in a group too, and having pride in creating something that lasts, I've been there and I've been over that too.
Nothing I've done is remembered and I'm not bothered, because I've got the memories to think back on.
