Kinshra Lieutenant and former Commander and War Chief Zande Khanda has successfully infiltrated the White Knights' Castle, having been brought in for questioning and escaped within. A suit of armor has gone missing, and the stealthy high-ranking enemy could be anywhere.

| The War At Home |

"The smallfolk of Asgarnia face a dangerous decision," Mayor of Port Sarim, Sebastien Forren said today. Forren stood atop a crate before a crowd on the docks of the busy seaport, addressing the concerns many had brought before him regarding their safety.

"We can choose to seek the refuge of the White Knights in the besieged city of Falador -- or we can try and defend ourselves in our towns." The statement ellicited murmurs and nods as many families had contemplated fleeing to the walled safety of the Asgarnian capital.

Many have come to see this plan as a fool's gambit, however, due to the recent burning & sacking Rimmington, and with Kinshra patrols and siege parties surrounding Falador. "You've all seen the rise in highwaymen and raiders on our roads!" Forren cried, "the road to Falador is a treacherous one these days and safety in a besieged city cannot be guarenteed!"

A woodsman shouted, interrupting the speaker, "we are on our own in the country! If we can't make it to Falador then how can we possibly hope to defend ourselves from thieves and the Black Knights?!" Many shouted in agreement and the port was soon in uproar.

When it seemed the mob might just erupt into a riot as insults began to be traded over the best course of action, Forren raised his hands and called for silence. "Order," he said, echoing Saradominist philosophies, "is our greatest weapon. If we stand together, we can turn back any tide!"

"We must stand as one people if we are to keep safe our selves, our families! Port Sarim opens it's arms to the refugees of war. We are not the White Knights in shining armor. We do not have walls. What we do have is a promise of hope."

Original message details are unavailable.
Delrith looked up at Khalian, on hearing reports that the people of Port Sarim had decided to stay at home, even after the burning of Rimmington.

"Shall we?" he queried,

"It's for the best," replied Khalian.

"The Black Knights are in the woods!" Mayor Sebastien Forren announced later today. Armed in a suit of crude chainmail and assembled plate, he stood among a small volunteer force that had gathered in the town square to train for combat. Armed with scythes, pitchforks, makeshift shields, and other small arms, the rag-tag force nonetheless trained together with uncharacteristic discipline and professionalism. Evidently, these peasants had some experience, whether it was time spent in a levy or otherwise.

"We've seen their campfires in the distance, we know they're coming!" Forren called to his men. They spoke of course of the hundred-or-so pillars of smoke that had broken the canopy of the woods surrounding Port Sarim. The usual traffic of travellers and highwaymen on the roads was also absent in a 'calm before the storm' type of way. Forren sought to break the eerieness and fire up his volunteers before the engagement.

"I trust in all of you to watch my back in this fight! And you can bet I'll be watching yours! We know how to march and we know how to fight. Now it's time to really apply ourselves, boys. We might just be peasants with pitchforks, but they're just zamorakian pigs under their fancy, black armor!"

Forren's speach seemed to rouse the men as they raised their arms in the air before resuming practicing. There was sure to be an interesting engagement in the battle for Asgarnia on the horizon, but the Gods only know who the victors will be.

(( After I asked him, Krig informed me there would be Kinshra moving on the city, so this isn't a powerplay. ))

Here's hoping we finally suffer some manner of setback in this campaign. Constant victory becomes tedious after a time, especially when you've won battles you've deliberately tried to lose and have had to bring in your other characters to attack your Kinshra ones on behalf of the defenders.

With any luck, Sarim will be the sort of reversal in which the plucky peasants outsmart the over-confident knights.

The Kinshra in question had slipped out of Rimmington before the re'conquest', allowing it to serve as a distraction for southern Asgarnia. They moved swiftly north and then east, to meet up with a detachment under Commander Delrith from the southern siege camp of Falador. From here, they travelled south-east, reaching the outskirts of Sarim's influence with haste. Now within notice, they weren't in much of a hurry. Knowing they were spotted, but that they'd already evaded the worst, the black armoured knights of the Kinshra were assured. They expected resistance after all this was the steadfast of western trade and the hold of the King, but with such a concentration of Asgarians and White Knights in Falador, they were confident.

Scout reports placed their arrival at Port Sarim at Tuesday, roughly 21:00 GMT.

(( Agreed with Luth and Draz, so we don't need anyone to tell us why we maybe couldn't've done anything mentioned previously, ty ))

From the Kinshra thread:

Sand Traven said :
A letter is delivered, by hand, to the adjutant's office of the Kinshra's forward command centre for the Siege of Falador, marked plainly for the attention of Commanders Malleus and Delrith.

Most esteemed commanders,

First, may I introduce myself; I am Sir Galleth Meyers, knight of the Kinshra. I write to you with a proposal for the furthering of our goals as regards the white city and its current encirclement.

I have served in the Kinshra now for fifteen years; I began as a page and was squired to a knight a year later, and upon reaching majority swiftly achieved ascendancy. I served at the first siege of Falador and it was there I first witnessed - as I am sure did my lords - the earth-shaking power of dwarven weaponry. The "mortars" as they were called, which preceded our assaults upon the city, proved their quality time and again. I requested a transfer to these units then, and was refused. I request a similar transfer now.

I understand our artillery for this action has, thus far, been limited to the counter-weight trebuchet* with which our valiant mathematicians and engineers bombard the posts of our enemies. But I have seen the Chaos Dwarves at work within our camps, and I know that their fire power is at our disposal should we command it. Ice Mountain looms over our positions, and its peaks fly the black flag.

My proposal, should I be granted but the smallest contingent of these awe-inspiring weapons, is that we turn their power not just against the military strongholds of the city, but against the city's civilian districts. In this way I would seek to end the deadlock that has seen us entrench ourselves within the city limits while our craven enemy cowers within their fortress. Cowards though they may be, they will lose the hearts of the people very quickly indeed should they fail to be seen to protect the city's non-combatants.

They know this fact well; having once turned the favour of the people from our most noble tribe, they fear lest the same should happen to them.

Whichever course of action our enemy might choose to take in the face of this unrestricted bombardment, we are ready to exploit their weakness; should they sally and attempt an evacuation of the district, (or, should they hesitate, a search for survivors), our Knights sit on both flanks of their only route of advance. This route could quite easily be mined, should we be able to spare the manpower, as we have access to the tunnels that run under the city. Alternatively should they sit and stew in their own filth within the castle until our mission is completed, their outlook is similarly bleak. Either they will emerge to a hostile populace, enraged at the lack of support granted by the White Knights, or they will emerge to virtually no populace at all.

I leave this proposal to the discretion of my lords. Unless on patrol within the city, I can be found within the northern camp.

Strength through chaos,

Sir Galleth Meyers.
