You've missed out a fair amount of detail about repeater crossbows. I'll copypasta some that I put on a thread a while back:
"Yes, that crossbow existed. What that copypasta w*kipedia article does not mention, however, is how that crossbow was countered.
The process of reloading those crossbows could only bring the string to a certain torque - this, needless to say, was absurdly weak. The opposing army merely needed to hold up what was effectively a wicker panel extending from one end of their front line to the other: in such a way was this crossbow rendered useless on the battlefield, hence how unknown it is.
Now translate this into roleplay terms. These crossbows are still capable of firing a stupid amount of bolts every minute. These bolts are still able to pierce human skin and cause a human extreme damage.
I lose count of how many times, both on the forums and in-game, I have had to prove that these crossbows are overpowered. I now take the approach that if a roleplayer is not able to see for himself that such things are overpowered, then that person should cancel his subscription and get out of this roleplay community."
One man's trash is another's treasure, and one man's cash buys another's pleasure.
So I'll rob from the cradle, and I'll rob from the grave; it's just human traffic, and I'm just a slave.
